FootJoy’s staff on the Tour have been clocking up the air miles in support of the pro’s as they tee up on the European Tour’s International schedule from New Delhi to Madeira. As ever, the players are more than happy to be taking delivery of their new FootJoy shoes and gloves for the season ahead.
Ian Poulter was at his sartorial best at the Johnnie Walker Classic sporting black and gold FootJoy Classics to match his attire. The finishing touch was a sequinned FJ logo on his shirt which he claimed he’d ironed on himself!
At the Malaysian Open the humidity was very high and many of the players went up a glove size as a result. David Lynn requested FootJoy’s RainGrip glove for the week, prompting enquiries from other players who could see how the glove was perfect for the conditions. Aussie Tony Carolan collected a pair of Golf Athletics and found them so comfortable, they immediately went into play in the first round.
On to Jeju and the Ballantine’s Championship where Jeev Milkha Singh picked-up two pairs of Classics to go with his DryJoys PODS that he has been sporting the past few weeks. His choice was the all black and was more than impressed with the comfort support and stability of the new shoe.
Final stop, Madeira where the FootJoy team were the recipients of many ‘thank-you’s’ as over the past couple of weeks, fully-exempt European Tour players have received the shoes they selected for the season. All were very complimentary, especially Peter Gustafsson who had requested styles that were striking and ‘different’. Apparently his white and red Classics really fitted the bill.
There’ll be more from the Tour in the next issue of The Comfort Zone. In the meantime check out the new FootJoy Tour Blog at www.footjoyblog.com where you’ll find some sneak pics of some Masters ‘specials’ in production. While there’s no guarantee that the pros will wear them in competition, look out for FootJoy players sporting custom FootJoy golf shoes in the seasons first major.
Your rain gear is something you shouldn't have to think about. After all, we prefer playing our golf when the weather is sunny and warm. But the days you do need some protective outerwear, you don't want to worry about wind cutting through your jacket, rain dripping down the back of your neck, your legs getting wet or the club slipping out of your hands.
Nothing should come between you and the round of your life; certainly not a little weather! That's where the Performance Outerwear from FootJoy comes in. Put it on and forget about it. Just keep playing.
Don't think about the Lightweight Sta-Dry System that provides a 100% waterproof, windproof, quiet and breathable performance. Don't worry about the waterproof stretch panels that allow the garment to move with you while keeping you totally dry or the FootJoy storm collar that's higher in the back and lower near the chin to keep water off your neck and back. We've thought of all these industry-leading features so you don't have to.
So no matter what you encounter on the course this spring, we've got you covered from top to bottom, from the first layer to the last. Start with the ProDry Pique Long Sleeve Golf Shirt or Performance ProDry Superlite Short Sleeve Golf shirt and top it off with any number of Performance Outerwear options, from the soft and durable Microfibre Shell of our Wind Shirts to the versatility of our Short Sleeve Rain Shirts and the lightweight performance of the Performance Light Jacket and Rain Trousers. Just put it on and forget about it. You've got bigger things to worry about....like that slippery little six-footer for par.
MyJoys, the bespoke golf shoe service from FootJoy has been running successfully in Europe for three years, providing thousands of FootJoy devotees with personalised golf shoes to order. The programme on the MyJoys website at footjoy.co.uk/myjoys features a total of eight styles for men and women and now includes the new DryJoys – complete with the ‘Flextability’ of the PODS™ technology outsole.
Select DryJoys and you have the option to choose your shoe size and width for each foot (good news if you’re one of the many golfers who have different sized feet). Then you can select the base leather colour, saddle colour, accent colour and lace colour from the extensive menu of options available. All that then remains is to choose the lettering you want on each heel or from the available logo options and you have the shoes of your dreams.
Print your design, take it to your nearest FootJoy retailer and you’re just three weeks away from a delivery of a pair of shoes that will not only make you the envy of your fourball (we’re trusting your design sense here) but could also revolutionise the comfort and performance you enjoy from your golf shoes as you play the game you love.
MyJoys gives you the chance to be as creative (or as conservative) as you like with your shoe design. Here’s your chance to try the programme for yourself and for two lucky readers of The Comfort Zone the chance to walk away with your own pair of MyJoys with compliments of FootJoy.
Ian Poulter is famous for his sartorial style. You may have seen him in the new FootJoy TV commercials bringing a striking new pair of Classics home to add to his collection.
To win a pair of MyJoys, log on to the MyJoys site and design a pair of shoes you think Ian would appreciate. Then simply select ‘email summary’ in the line Friends Email enter email@example.com and submit.
We’ll judge all the entries received before the closing date of Friday 25th April. The two entries received which in the view of the judges best capture the spirit of Ian Poulter in FootJoy will then be invited to order MyJoys to their own specification.
