Rory McIlroy (PureTouch and FJ SPORT #53102) has reached the pinnacle of professional golf, becoming a Major Champion at the 2011 U.S. Open. The 22-year-old Ulsterman put on a display of pure golfing excellence at Congressional Country Club becoming only the 5th player to lead wire-to-wire on his way to victory in a U.S. Open Championship. Rory's onslaught of Congressional began with a birdie and his stellar play continued all week, shooting four rounds in the 60's. He reached 10 under par in only 26 holes, making Rory the quickest player to reach such a lofty score in a U.S. Open. McIlroy also set the U.S. Open record for total score (268), most stokes under par (-16), along with 10 other U.S. Open records. McIlroy received praise from many of his peers all week including the number one ranked golf Luke Donald stating, "As I've said before, I think he has probably the most talent I've ever seen from a golfer." Not many will argue this now as the young McIlroy moves to number 4 in the Official World Golf Rankings and is reaching the potential many of his peers have seen for years.
