FJ ambassador, Paul Lawrie (FJ ICON & StaSof), secured a one shot victory at the Open de Andalucia. The win was the Scotsman’s first win since 2002. The conditions on the Parador de Malaga course were not easy, as the cool Mediterranean winds off the coast kept hitting the course at no less than 15 kmph, making it difficult to maintain precision and accuracy. But it was the 42 year old Scot who handled conditions best.
Lawrie didn’t have it all his own way after bogeying the first two holes, giving his fellow FJ ambassador, Mark Foster, a three shot lead. The former Open Champion showed his class on the back nine, starting with four birdies in the first five holes, setting him up for his first win in nine years.
“It’s been a long time – 2002 seems a hell of a time ago. I’ve had a few second places in there, but all of a sudden we’re there again” commented Lawrie after his picking up his first place cheque of €166.660.
FJ continues to be the #1 Shoe on Tour as demonstrated by the fact that 60% of the field laced up in FJ shoes.
