Argentina’s Estanislao Goya (FootJoy Classics) won his first European Tour tile, holding off the challenge from his fellow FootJoy wearer Callum Macaulay (FootJoy DryJoys and FJ Collar) to claim the Madeira Islands Open. The 20-year-old Goya, started his day with a three shot lead, finally closing with a 2-over 73 to finish on 6-under 278. Macaulay had been 11 strokes behind with nine to play but managed to birdie eight of the last nine for a back nine total of 28, finishing on a final round of 64 which equalled the course record. Goya’s win earned him €116,660 and catapults him from 150th to 50th in The Race to Dubai.
