Hahahaha -- some great new metaphors in this I hadn't heard before. http://blogs.golf.com/presstent/2012/02/golfers-glossary-a-golfers-only-dictionary-from-golf-magazine.html I like Bernie Madoff and Press Secretary.
Any of you have other new phrases besides the ones we've all been using for years?
This is great! Sadly, I can relate to a lot of these. They sound better than sware words and other nasty phrases that are typically thrown out there.
My favorite is the Captain Kirk.
Thanks!
I loved the "Toyota" joking with the breaking problems.
Captain Kirk noun a wayward shot that goes where no ball has ever gone before
When I do that I say "hit that one into grandma's kitchen"
I have heard the Cuban putt called the Bridesmaid. "Always a bridesmaid and never a Bride.
Green With Implants noun false front
on second thought, Mother-in-Law noun a shot that looked good leaving
I like the press secretary, a new one on me. Some of the others seemed a bit of a stretch for their meaning, unlike the relatively simple ones like Linda Ronstadt: vt, blew by you.
Great list.
Shapiro noun. Play the first or second ball (mulligan), which ever you want.
Very funny. Now I have a few new one's to use.
LOL, I should use these this year around my golf team. Everyone would be like, "What he is talking about?"
Those are funny, being a Van Halen fan I had to laugh at the Sammy Hagar...Classic!
Fun read of great metaphors! A few I can relate to and will now use....
Wallflower: A ball on the edge of the green
Botox: Unfortunate lip out
Pole Dancer: A shot that hits the Flagstick
