So I like to have an occasional cigar during a casual round of golf. Maybe a little Scotch or beer. Anyone else smoke cigars or drink for that matter during the round? Or do you wait 'till the 19th hole? What sizes or brands do you like? What is it about golf and cigars anyway?
I WAS A HEAVY SMOKER FOR 40 YEARS UNTIL 2009 WHEN I QUIT. I WOULD SMOKE A PACK IN A ROUND. NOW I DON'T SMOKE AT ALL. AS FAR AS DRINKING, I AM NOT MUCH OF A DRINKER BUT I HAVE HAD A VERY OCCASIONAL BEER WHILE PLAYING. I HAVE NO OBJECTION TO OTHERS SMOKING CIGARS AND SUCH OR DRINKING.
I rarely drink while playing and I do not smoke. I know quite a few people that enjoy doing both while golfing. To each, his own I guess.
Cigars are "guilty pleasures" and probably harken back to the old days a bit. The times when you could smoke indoors and enjoy a smoke and a drink after a good round.
I do enjoy having a cigar on the course, because it's the only place I can have one. My wife forbids them anywhere near my house, so it's course only.
I'm a "beer on the course" guy, but not for every round. It sort of depends on the weather, so if it's really hot I'll throw one or two down. The beer really depends on how I feel at the moment, and really not how I'm playing or any other factor. And "apres round" I'll usually enjoy a nice little Gin & Tonic. That's my favorite!
I AM A PARTY POOPER, I DON'T DO EITHER.
I DO HAVE A HABIT OF TALKING TO MYSELF WHILE SWINGING AND A FEW WORDS UNSER MY BREATH AFTER THE SHOT
MUMBLE,MUMBLE @%yy$#^%(%$#^&*
Maybe the ocassional cigar on the course but I never drink while playing.
I think the allure of the cigar is that it's just a manly sort of thing to do while playing. Having a stogie with your buddies seems to be a kind of right of passage.
This was actually a topic not too long ago. However, your are on point. Nothing like a good cigar while playing a round. The drink I wait until after, I already play as if I were impaired so I don't need the help.
Cohiba, Romeo and Juliet, or even a Don Diego.
A cold beer after the fact and I am good to go.
It is the only sport where you can do this now. Bowling is out of it. Just not a big fan of people leaving dead cigars on the tee box.
Nothing like a little swing juice. We have a signature drink at our club called "The Amanda" after a server who invented it:
"V"organic local MA vodka, pink lemonade, and a splash of cranberry. Perfect for the second 18.
Since I carry I find it hard to juggle a mixed drink so I wait for the 2nd 18 and the cart!
I like to enjoy a cigars during a round. I learned the hard way about smoking them early in the morning and on an empty stomach...it about killed me 2 weeks ago. That light headed... sick to your stomach fisn't a very good feeling.
I like Perdomo, Gurhka, Opus X, Nub, and Tatuaje cigars.
Smoke and drink only at "golf outings". Not much else to do during a 6 hour round while my group is watching the group ahead dig new irrigation ditches. If I am playing otherwise, the booze and cigars wait till the 19th.
I quit smoking cigars a few years ago and lately I just havent been into drinking. Personally, I wont drink during my round because I want my mind to be sharp and focused and alchohol would only get in the way of that.
I personally get really turned off by people who choose to drink during their round. A lot of people around here dont seem to know what their limit is, which makes it really annoying to be around them.
Cigars are out for me as I quit smoking 14 years ago and just don't care to start that habit again. Drinking of alcoholic beverages on the course jsut isn't my thing. They have a tendency to make me lethargic and don't satisfy my thirst. Gatorade or some similar type of drink is for me. After a round, then a cold one tastes mighty good. And then only one because I have to drive and don't want to end up like a friend of mine.
Not and have never been a smoker of any kind, and I save the drinking until after the round.
will smoke and drink only at outings...will have some drinks after of course...
I stick to water during the round, and save the alcohol for afterwards.
