Too nice to stay inside in the NY area. So I thought that I would go to the local muni to see if I could get out. Which I did after waiting and hour and a half. No biggie. Nice outside.
However I think that they should change the name of the course. Hack Valley. Quacker Ridge. Royal Goose Turd. Crab Grass National? No..... from now on I think when I get the sick urge to go play here I will tell Mr. Mizuno that I an going to Fore-y Pines. What was I thinking?
After a lovely 6 hour round with Joe, George, and Bob ( by their footwear selections I am sure that they will not be reading this) I was ready to kill myself. Almost was killed by 2 tee shots, so the course would have done it for me. Guess everyone is a little rusty.
But still it was so great to be out there hitting the ball and playing with the new putter. Better here than no golf at all right?
What a sick sick game.
Any Ideas for my muni's new name?
How a about.... One time's enough, never again
MG... Ah the pleasure of it all. There's a place here that caters to the... what shall I say... similar element.
When you show up on the first tee and the rest of your group is attired in camo colored jump suits and orange caps, it is generally considered acceptable form to excuse one's self from the round! Been there and done it!
Seriously, at this time of the year it's just good to go swing and hit a few balls, remembering that bad golfers are real people too!
I would expect this is happening around the country with early spring - for me - I'll just start looking for OPs (Other People Lost Golf Balls).
GO HOKIES (Yeah for Spring)
As sad is it sounds, I envy you being able to play a round today. As expected, Friday's 70 degree weather turned into close to 10 inches of snow in KC. Instead of playing.....and hopefully avoiding one.... I am watching my son build a snow man.
How about Shouldaquit Hills?
Probably was still great to get out for you this early in the season.
Like the Shoudaquit Hills. As far as looking for other peoples golf balls you usually have to chase people off your fairway who are trying to take yours!
Shankapotomus Links!
Not able to get out yet in Milwaukee, so a 6 hour round actually sounds good right now. Hoping Friday will be the day for me, but just waiting to see what the temp has in store.

Having grown up on munis, I don't have a problem with them. Is it better to play on more up-scale courses - obviously, but you get what you pay for. When I play the munis now, I try to either get out really early or really late to avoid the pairings that cause 6 hour rounds. Plus, the spring is the worst time around here on the munis. The weather is nice and brings out all types of golfers. I actually like it when the weather hits the high 80s and low 90s with high humidity. The casual golfers stop coming out in the summer in Memphis. It takes a real lunatic to play during the heat of the day around here. But, I always know what I could be getting into when I hit the munis. As long as you expect and accept it, then you won't be disappointed. There are worse ways to spend your time.
No one likes a 6 hour round. Were you "randomly" paired with Joe, George and Bob?
I hate it when a public course pairs you up with people... that's a big pet peeve of mine. I don't want to play with a 40+ handicap, especially one I don't know. Usually when they toss me in with people, on the second tee I just ask if they mind if I just play ahead.
yep randomly paired because Bob's buddy was a no show but you can't really say that you don't want to play with those guys because they have on sneakers. Not that much of a golf snob. Not that I am really complaining. I was still really happy to be out. As far as playing ahead it would have been nice except for the road block ahead. If it wasn't so busy the starter usually knows who I would like to be paired with. Still wanted to go out and play again on Sunday. I am a sick. I have golfers disease.
