Tar Heel Posted: Mar 17, 2010 09:03 AM

As the 2010 NCAA Basketball Championship begins, the Tar Heel reign will come to an end. I thought I would reflect one last time on what a great experience last year was. As you can see, my daughter and I were full of anticipation last year at Ford Field just prior to tip off in the big game... How sweet it was!

Every reign must end someday. I am sure that Roy will have them back to a contender in no time.

Let's just hope that this year's (2011) winner is from that near-by school that uses a darker shade of Carolina Blue.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge boys! Whew...

Seriously, I found that picture going through some files the other day and it got me thinking about college hoops last year. We were lucky enough to see 4 Tar Heels games in person last year; the 2 in Detroit, a Chicago game vs. Valpo, and a Chapel Hill game. Just love it.

Yes, I know Roy Williams will have them back really soon. BTW, if you haven't read his book, "Hard Work," I recommend that you do. Lots of good life lessons in there. And you know Ol' Roy is a pretty good golfer, and has a couple references to his place at Wild Dunes.

So thanks guys and gals. Just feels good to look back at what was going on last year at this time!

Tar Heel, although I am and always will be a Jayhawk fan. And, like you, my daughter will be attending Kansas in the fall. I do feel quite bad for the Carolina faithful. Roy brought stability and class to KU after the Larry Brown era. Although he never won the big one until back at the Dean dome on Tobacco road, I will be cheering for the 'Heels and ol Roy....until they meet the Hawks again in the Big Dance.

Rest easy big guy, Basketball practices will start again with Midnight Madness around the 1st of November.

Hokie... I knew exactly what you meant brother!

JL my friend... appreciate the note. As a loyal Jayhawk guy I'm sure you know that both Coah Williams and Coach Smith are connected in a meaningful way to Kansas, and the link between Kansas and North Carolina is very deep. Not too often that you see the FORMER coach of a team sit in the stands and wear the colors of the team that just defeated him as Roy did during the 2008 NCAA Finals. Remember the furor over Roy sitting in the stands wearing a Kansas deacl on his shirt in the stands? In his book he talks about how much respect he has for Kansas, just as he has for Coach Smith and UNC. Truly shows the measure of the man.

I feel like a Cubs fan saying "I can't wait until next year," because we are still in the NIT. But the next 2 years look truly promising for the Tar Heels, and I know Coah Williams will look deeply back on this season as motivation.

Eric... Nice. Not sure what I should even say, except she dates one of the goalies from the University of Michigan hockey team.

Feel free to come over to Ann Arbor though and I'll introduce you.

BTW.... Wasn't that lovely young lady in your "Meet The Ambassadors" shot your chosen lady? I think?
