I don't mean crossover shoes either.

I mean people playing in running shoes, cross trainers, or even hi-tops.

I have never done this, because it just never felt right.  Even before I bought my FJ's I would wear casual shoes with rubber soles.

What about everyone else?

Its not the best thing for your game, but what someone else does on the course doesnt effect my game. I wear my spikes.

I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM.  MOSTLY YOU SEE THEM ON KIDS OR BEGINNERS.  LOOK AT ALL THE GOLF SHOES THAT ARE STYLED LIKE SNEAKERS.  I DON'T WEAR THAT KIND OF SHOE BUT IT IS OK WITH ME FOR ANYBODY ELSE, JUST A MATTER OF STYLE CHOICE.

I DO THINK THAT ANYONE WHO WANT TO PLAY REGULARLY SHOULD INVEST IN A PAIR, EVEN IF IT IS THE LOWER END LIKE THE GREENJOYS.  GET THEM ON SALE AT ***'S OR SOME OTHER PLACE AND THEY ARE VERY AFFORDABLE!!!

I sometimes play/practice in running shoes.  It helps me to get my tempo back when I get quick. It makes me pay more attention to keeping my feet still.  BUt only for practice times.

Sneakers are kind-of a look that you see in shoe styles.  Sneakers are definately a better look than flip-flops.

I actually played on day in sneakers (did have any golf shoes with me - hadn't planned on playing that day) and had one of my best rounds of that year [made me keep my feet still and not swing hard - good thought and lesson to learn].

Not really that big of a deal IMO. So many golf shoes out there now look like sneakers as it is.

Every company has a sneaker like product in their portfolio, with softspikes. I personally don't wear them, but many folks like their fit and feel.

this one is a little easier. theres a lot of golf shoes that look like sneakers. i wear them a lot on the range, but i never wear them playing. i need the traction.

Not a big deal to me. I don't notice/look for those things at all. Just as a few of the above posters said...whatever others do doesn't effect me usually. I have done it myself before (forgot my DryJoys at home) and it really messed with my game! It was an interesting experience. I wouldn't think I would tell that much.

coming from a golf retail, i can tell the importance of shoes in your game. other than being a footjoy freak that i am, i honestly think that the shoes is one of the most important things to spend your money on. even if you're just starting out and have beginner clubs, go ahead and splurge on the shoes. you don't have to get icons for $200, but don't get the cheapest shoes out there.i use the contour, they play like expensive shoes but the price is great. it also depends on how much you play. but i've seen so many people try to get cheap shoes and play several times a week and they don't last. you can definitely tell a difference.

I wear them if I am there to practice my short game or putting but if I am working full swing or anything I wear my spikes.

If someone wants to play in tennis shoes I dont have a problem with it as long as their attire is proper.  I have done it a few times.

I'll definately where them to practice, especially if I just have time to chip and putt but on the course, I will generally where spikes.

Mostly see the younger set with the less than traditional clothing. But they are the up and coming golfers of the future and they don't affect my game. At least they are out there trying and keeping the game alive. Heck, even my grandson wears them once in a great while and he has golf shoes.
