Has anyone on here ever done anything with video swing analysis, or does anyone have swing analysis software? If so did this help and what are the benefits that you have gotten from this.
I have taped my swing to see that my back swing is in the proper position and that my hips are getting through on the down swing. My tendency is to *** my right wrist up on the back swing and stay too level with my hips through the swing.
I compare my video with the one I have with my instructor and that way I can keep an eye on things before they get too out of whack.
Had that done as part of my lessons. I am not sure if it helped all that much, but it did point out a tendency to drop my shoulder.
I have used the product from DartFish (Dart Golfer) for a number of years. The a a number of benefits:
It is great!!
I have been using the TPI swing analysis software and it's really nice. It's actually a free download and works well for the average joe. Since the majority of us don't have access to a trackman or anything I think this works very well.
All you do is download the software, plug in a video camera and record. You can draw lines and make circles to make sure everything is in line/on plane. I like it a lot and would suggest looking into it.

The problem with doing the swing analysis yourself is that most of us don't actually know what we are looking at. I use it for the simple things and I still see my instructor a couple times a month but it's good to use if you want to see what your swing looks like when you are really hitting the ball well. I took multiple videos from different angles when I was hitting the ball extremely solid and if something goes bad, I take a look and compare the two videos to see if I see anything different.

I've gone down the video swing analysis path and had mixed results. It was great when I was at an outdoor facility that had hitting bays fully equipped with video and Flight Scope. I like seeing the full ball flight and then checking out the video to see what was going on. The real time feedback is great.
On the flip side, I took a few indoor lessons and just found it to be not as helpful. The video was great but it fell short of the outdoor experience.
when i worked at golf galaxy, i used a swing analysis. i absolutely loved it. i had my swing video taped and compared to any pga player i wanted to see. although mine was worst than there's (by a lot), you could see step by step how to get to where they were compared to my own swing.
also, they have a ball fitting and driver fitting that is great. you can't believe the difference that it makes in your swing.
