Chautauqua Golf Club

Chautauqua Golf Club

I snuck into western New York to surprise my wife this week for our upcoming anniversary. Hadn't seen the family since Memorial Day, so I arranged an opportunity to see them and get a chance to play on one of Western New Yorkshire hidden gems, the Chautauqua Golf Club. Our fellow FJA Bruce also knows well what a great track this is (www.ciweb.org). The course dates back to the 1920's and is a Donald Ross design. There are some devilish holes and greens, and do not be fooled by the 6200 yard white tees. Plenty of four putts are available to the uninformed! I recommend the Lake Course as the better of the two tracks. The Hill Course is a bit too I'll conceived for none of the holes, which were added in the 1990's.

YES A WONDERFUL COURSE WHICH I HOPE TO PLAY AGAIN THIS SUMMER.  IF YOU COME BACK THIS WAY AGAIN THIS YEAR, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO WE CAN GET TOGETHER FOR A ROUND THERE.

Bruce, I don't have plans to be back. Now that I'm in California these east coast trips become harder to manage. And believe me, I was guilty as heck coming out and not telling you. My plans were never totally solid, and it was very last minute. But if YOU can, go back and play the course. It is the best shape of the past 20 years, and the greens are awesome. And the spell check got me. The course is in western New York state.......
