WV golf courses

    Heading to Wv for some mountain golf next weekend. Playing the Raven at snowshoe on Friday. Does anyone know any other good ones? Have played Pete Dye , stonewall Jackson and lake view. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    It's hard to beat the Greenbrier if you're in the Snowshoe area (about 1 1/2 away)...It's pricey if you're not staying at the resort 200+ for the Greenbrier and Meadows Courses and $300+ for the Old White but, they are fantastic and the service is second to none.

    It is not a motel 6 that is for sure.  I wouldn't pay to play the meadows, but the OLD White is a classic with a very rich history.  The Greenbrier is probably just as good.  The Ryder Cup was played there many years ago dec north.and it was a regular tour stop in the 40's and 50's right after the Masters as the pros were headed north.  

    You could always stay at the hotel and get a reduced golf rate it is only about $600 a night but that is the American plan.

    Thanks. Looking for an alternative to the Greenbrier. It's a little pricey for this trip.

    Gotta be the best course in the whole state. golf is way too expensive in the U.S. right now considering the major recession we are in.

    Gotta be the best course in the whole state. golf is way too expensive in the U.S. right now considering the major recession we are in.

    I agree the Greenbrier is expensive but, the service is amazing. It has hosted both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup and continues to host the Greenbrier Classic. You are definitely paying for the atmosphere and history but, you can expect to pay those prices for most courses that have hosted a Major or Ryder Cup (there are exceptions Bethpage, Torrey Pines but...). Is it worth it...ehhh, I've paid similar prices for courses that were not near as good.

    Awesome trip to the raven at snowshoe this weekend and special thanks to cousre supt. Ron Parker who is battling some serious health problems. Thanks for all and best of luck. Had a 2 on the par 4 9th after driving the green. Actually did it two days in a row but three putted the first day. Course was in great shape.
