Very cool thread.  I always thought "Falcon's Fire" down in Florida had a great name.  Quail Hollow and Whistling Straights are other favorites.

This is probably not a good idea.

DEAD HORSE LAKE GOLF COURSE

Cool topic...I'm going with a North Carolina theme. I like Tobacco Road GC, Verdict Ridge CC (built by a retired Charlotte judge), Olde Beau CC (name of the course designers English Bull Dog), The Old North State Club, Silo Run GC which was built on an old farm and two silos still stand just behind the 18th green. And finally my personal favorite Pudding Ridge GC. On February 6, 1781, General Charles Cornwallis traversed this site during the Revolutionary War. Tradition has it that the consistency of the mud so reminded him of English pudding, that he named the hill Pudding Ridge, a name that has survived for over two hundred years. There is actually a historical marker near where General Cornwallis crossed Dutchmen's Creek which meanders through the course.

We have some good beach courses in Oregon. but not sure about this one, might be a tough walk.

Neskowin Marsh Golf Course.

My favorite Oregon beach course was called "devils lake" but the local casino bought it and changed it too "Chinook Winds" same name as said casino.

on my computer Neskowin march golf course is not showing up weird. Anyways I have never heard of this course and I googled it.

it was a youtube video of elk playing on the course pretty cool.

In Palm Desert, California, there's a course named "Fire Cliff", one of the two courses in Desert Willow Resort and I like that course. . . still don't know what they mean by fire cliff.

Spyglass Hill Golf course, which I've yet to play near Pebble and Cypress.

But I'm interested to know about Mr. bholley's entry, "Dead Horse Lake Golf Course" and just wondering what it's like almost.

How about Crooked Stick and Winged Foot?

Would love to build my own courses and name them Croc's Pond / Croc's Creek / Croc's Estuary ... might struggle to attract visitors though.

The really best names are the ones that everyone recognizes and can only mean one course and represent an area as well without any explanation.

Pebble, Torrey, Bethpage, Medinah, Pinehurst, etc.

Right now we are a few miles from a private course on  the shore of Cape Cod named  Eastward Ho.    There is nothing east of the course except the Atlantic until you reach Europe. One heck of a long water hole.
