Anticipation is building!! New rain paints and shirt tomorrow and new shoes arrive on Tuesday. Looking at the front door isn't helping..

"A watched pot never boils."  The waiting game is always tough, yet so exciting as well!

I never saw those shoes that you got for your wife. Very cool design!

Thinking about pulling the trigger on these. We'll see.

Those would look sweet with the FJ Ambassador logo on them. Pull the trigger and order them!

  •

That really would look great with the FJA logo on them. Is there room to put it on asymetrical shoe?

  •

We have discussed this in the past and please corrrect me if I am wrong,  but the FJ Ambassador shield will not fit due to the size of the shield. At one time there were only certain models that it would fit on.

    Thanks

    Tim

That kills the idea I had. RATS! Fortunately, there are plenty of FJ styles that the shield will fit on. Speaking of that, did y'all see all of the new shoe manufacturers at the PGA show? FJ's competition just tripled it seems.

I think this is only possible on the Saddle Shoes...

It will only be competition if they put out a better shoe than FJ for less money (I really can't see that happening).

Sorry, but there is no room for a logo on the Asymetrical.....

I have cried and begged enough on this topic and alsas, no logo on Asyms. Initials only. Logos on the Saddles.

Fred -- there were only a few first-time shoe exhibitors I know of -- including Crocs, which I don't consider a golf shoe, even with their spiked. There was a new creation called Barefoot B.E.R.B.S., an ugly flat shoe, and another one called Insta-Golf. It was like the instant snow grippers you can strap on to existing shoes. No comparison.

Your comment is well taken GC - it just SEEMS the competition had increased on a massive scale lately. When one really thinks about it, there may actually be less. Addidas and Nike have been making golf shoes for a while. However, what happened to Reebok? Etonic? Dexter? Johnston & Murphy? When did PUMA get in the game?

The golf shoe market is easily infiltrated by those who are in the athletic shoe market. They just take a running shoe and put spikes on them. Not literally, but it's not too far off. Over the years many traditional "shoe makers" got in the game, from Johnston & Murphy, Allen Edmonds, Brooks Brothers, and Dexter. Everyone has at one time or another made golf shoes. Certainly you mention a bunch of other brands who have been in/out of the business.

But FootJoy has stayed in the game primarily as a golf shoe manufacturer. They also happen to make dress shoes, but thats not their primary focus. Gof is first, and why they are "The Number One Shoe in Golf."

Excellent post Tar Heel.  You make some great points, and I think that with FJ focusing primarily on golf shoes, and the technology required to provide a stable shoe throughout the golf swing is why they are tops.  It's not as easy as taking a pair dress shoes and putting golf spikes on the bottom to make a good golf shoe.

GT, "It's not as easy as taking a pair dress shoes and putting golf spikes on the bottom to make a good golf shoe." It's funny you mention that as that's exactly how golf shoes were invented. Footjoy included. Thank goodness, FJ has learned how to make a better shoe with current technology.
