ICON Break-In

ICON Break-In

  •

Can someone lucky enough to have a pair or 2 give a little advice?  I'm holding out for the MyJoys, but hoping to get the fit right the first time.  As the ICONs break in, do you find much loosening or stretching from original, out of the box fit, or does it stay fairly consistent?  I have found that generally, the Classics stayed very true to original fit, but some of the other sport type shoes felt like they loosened up a little more - maybe because of the memory foam??  (which is in the ICON now...).  Would anyone recommend I go with a fit that's a little more snug out of the box??

    Thanks!

I have only three rounds in mine walking.  I have found that they have stayed tru to size not much stretching.  They are super comfortable.

I have only had experience with DryJoys and Classic Dry Premiers. Neither one has streched  out to any degree that would loosen up significantly to cause the shoe to become sloppy in fit. If it did, I would think that FJ would gladly have you return them, just to see if it was a cause to be concerned about in manufacture,  as I have yet to have any of their shoes fail to stay in shape. Proper care and using shoe trees just makes sense with any shoe.

In my opinion, I think they have stayed rather true to fit thus far.  I've only had them for about a month but I haven't noticed too much stretching.  I would assume they will stretch out a little bit but I actually had some stretching with the Classics as well, which is contrary to your experience with the Classics.

Expect some stretch, but I wouldn't say you need to adjust the size to incorporate the stretch; shouldn't be that significant.

I'd like to know that as well.  I have Contours and DryJoys and like them both but they fit DryJoys fit me a 1/2 size smaller.

This is exactly the reason for my FJ visit this week. I have been struggling with this question as I am going from full sized Classics which were available in almost any width to the ICON with fewer width choices.

When I get more info on Wednesday, I will post it for you.

Mine have to seem to have loosened up a bit but not an entire size or anything.  Good luck and let us know how it goes

I have a pair of 10.5 M -  very much the same fit as the Classic Tour shoe -

Have wore them 2 times -  Riding first time then a walking round -  this is my normal routine with new golf shoes.

I was really pleased after the walking round -  shoe was very comfortable.  Fit seems the same - hope to walk another round later this week.

Yes, they do stretch in my case compared to out of the box.

    IMHO

Really looking forward to hearing some more detail!  I've finally seen a couple styles show up at retail around here, so I'm getting my size dialed in, but in the past some shoes have really broken in more than others (not so much the leather streching as it is the foam/padding INside breaking down over time).  Thanks 19th.

As it turns out, at least for me, I need slightly different widths depending on shoe model. I have a pretty high instep so width is very important to my show fit.

Now that I have the correct width of show, I can tell you that my ICONs are a great feeling show right out of the box. I didn't get to play today, but I will be playing 72 holes over the next 3 days. At least 36 of them will be in a new pair of ICONs. I will let you know how it goes.

    any more info on this?

Now that I have a pair or two that fit properly I can comment.

Barnd new out of the box, walked 18 and they are unbelievably comfortable. Great support, my feet stay very stable in these shoes.

So what were some of the differences between models?  For example, does the sport pattern fit a little differently than the asymetrical?  Any additional thoughts?  This is great stuff.  Thanks so much 19th.
