Spikes for Classic Tours

  •

I have a pair of Classics Tour model 51990 with the Opti Flex soles. Can the FJ guys tell me what the best replacement spokes would be? There are Black Widows in there now. Would the new "Stinger" spokes as are in the Icons fit and be available? Anything else you guys recommend?

May be able to get to a sporting goods store tomorrow and see if they have the Stinger brand spikes that are similar to the old metal, but these are now plastic. Many of the Pros are now wearing them and if available, will let you know and what the cost is. The store does carry the Stinger brand, but don't know if they have this particular style in stock. Maybe they will order them if they don't currently have them.

    Thanks for the reply Eagle...

I actually went to a local green gras shop and took my shoes. The spikes are the quick twist variety and there were some new "spiders" that would fit nicely. No Stingers out yet, but these Spiders actually are quite cool looking. They're silver with lime green accents, so they really stand out.... even though they're on the bottom of my shoes!

    idk

Champ makes all kinds of spikes for shoes and many are available with FootJoy . Went to a web site today (golfspikes.com) and they have the new pro series Stingers. Ordered one of each for my Classics and DryJoys. Price was resonable.

Tar Heel, just make sure to hold your pose after your swing for a couple seconds longer than usual and show them puppies off.  I've always hoped FJ would include the spike color in the MyJoys program.

One thing thats always disapointed me is that when you get the Classic Tours they come with nice cleats with a gold accent to match the soles. But can you get these anywhere? Not a chance! I paid (what I consider) a small fortune for my shoes, I'd really like the cleats to look different from your average pair of Greenjoys or AQL's as well :)

Fieldsy... The spikes I ended up getting are silver with a green insert. While they don't "blend" as you say, they really do look sweet! They stand out and make a statement.... And no one will ever mistake your Classics for GreenJoys my friend....

    Eric...

I can't hold my pose the way you do! After I swing no one is usually looking at my feet anyway. They're usually doubled over with laughter...

Dude, I like the color matching spikes idea. But I think Mike and Chris are rolling their eyes right now thinking we're going off the deep end.

Well, I think the spike colors would be an issue because then they have to get that OEM to produce the colors that match the options in FJ's MyJoys line up.  It's just wishful thinking!

Eric, I know you like the metal spikes, but Champ now makes  a spike that will fit any FJ shoe and they are the Pro series spike. I just ordered ones for my shoes. Take a look at them on on golfspikes.com and click on Champ  and then Pro series spike. Looks like the old metal spike to some extent, but is compositie spike.

Oops. slight error, the tip  of the Pro series spike by Champ is metal. Still a better spike than is currently available. This spike was made for the European Tour, but is available here in the good old USA.
