ICON Distribution channels

Does anyone know offhand - are the ICONs ever going to show up on a retain level, or will they likely just be found in pro-shops at clubs???

Classics were never at the retail level around here and wondering if ICONs would be the same way.  I'm going to go MyJoys when it's available anyway, but it would be fun to try a few styles on.

Three different styles of Icons are in stock at my local golf shop.

    W222 -

Good question.  Our sales reps are out showing and selling the FJ ICON product to our trade partners as we speak.

The issue we battled with Classics at retail was generally one or a combination of three things ...

    1.  Selection - just last year we had 42 styles of Classics Dry Premiere, Classics Tour and Classics Tour BOA.  It is often times very difficult to pick 1, 2 or even a half dozen styles to represent the whole selection.  Most often these shoes tended to be sold out of our catalog.

    2.  Sizing/ Availability - in much the same way that it was tough to get a feel for all the styles when you only bring in a few styles, Classics were available in sizes 6 to 16 and widths AAA to EEE ... hard to represent all sizes for people to try.

    3.  Price - Classics shoes retail price in the 08-09 catalog was almost $350, making it hard for all accounts to invest in the stock.

We have found that with a total of 19 styles and over 1,000,000 possibilities with MyJoys that FJ ICON is getting great initial placement in shops around the country.  I expect distribution to be even wider with FJ ICON for a couple of additional reasons ...

    1.  New product - the excitement for FJ ICON is being felt around the country and I believe that many accounts see great upside in offering them as a stock product in their shops.

    2.  New price - the MSRP of FJ ICON is approximately $100 less than Classics, so it becomes a much more plausible purchase for both golf shop and consumer.

    Hope this helps.

PS - Since you mentioned you will be going the MyJoys route ... We just got a few pre-production FJ ICON shoes for the upcoming Deutsche Bank Championship.  We will be showcasing MyJoys on the range for the players during the first few days of the event.  Chris will post a few pictures later ... they are awesome!

I saw Ian Poulter showed off a couple of MyJoys from his collection.  He had some pretty outrageous ones that were custom made to match his new clothing line.  Had some blue/tan camo type prints and a light pink/dark pink pair... pretty nice if you'd ask me.

Getting really excited for the MyJoys.

I would imagine that we will see more of the retail shops carrying the Icons strictly due to the price point.  The Golfsmith near me carries the Adidas Tour 360 shoes for 250.00 so why wouldn't they carry the Icons which are similarly priced.

Mike, thanks so much for the feedback!  My guess was that largely due to price point, we may see them a little more widely distributed, and as was pointed out, Nike and Adidas are already in the 200+ range in pretty much any golf shop.  Glad to hear it, and can't wait to see some in person!  I'll no doubt be sucked in to buying a pair or two outside of the MyJoys I'm scheming up...Thanks again to everyone for their input!

I am really looking forward to the pictures of the Icon MyJoys.  Any sneak peek until the website is launched in Sept is appreciated.  Can't wait to look at all of the possibilities.

The Golfsmith in Raleigh, NC always carried the Classics.  Really the only place I could find them other than online.  I am hoping that they will carry the ICON.

I would have to imagine that if they could move Classics, stocking/moving the ICON won't be a problem.
