DL III- What's Next

DL III- What's Next

  •

As a fellow Tar Heel, I have always followed the career of Davis Love III. Through his career he has always been an ambassador for Titleist and all it's brands; from irons, FJ shoes, Cameron putters, and more. He and Tom Watson put the Ralph Lauren golf clothing line on the map, and Davis' long term commitment to his partners is quite evident.

So what do you think is next for DLIII? Does he follow the footsteps of Norman into the business world, with some course design? Is he going to play a full Champions Tour schedule? One things is certain, he will be selected very soon (maybe 2012) as a Ryder Cup Captain. And boy I can't wait for that to happen!

    Thoughts?

Can't wait for him to be Captain...he's definitely derserving of that honor.

I'd like to see him win again on the regular tour but I know he's nearing 50 and could be dominating on the Champions Tour...

First things first, he needs to find some confidence in his game and contend again...

I've always been a fan of his since his days partnering up with Couples in all the team events.

I too have been a fan of DL III for a long time.  I can remember the day he gamed a Ping Anser.

I think that for the immediate future, DL III seems like a really down to earth family guy, and might want to take time away once he's done with the regular tour, and spend some family time.  I would love to see him as Ryder Cup captain too....or maybe even captain the team soon AND play if his game can heat just a bit!  The business side seems to be something that he would be a natural at.

That is an interesting question. He has always seemed to be a class act. I wonder if his competitive fire is still there to go to the Champions Tour.

DL III has always been one of my favorites, he is a class act, and has one of the sweetest swings in golf.  Hope all the best for him, and would also be a fan of him as a Ryder Cup Cap

My best guess is that he will go on the Champions Tour on a limited basis. He is a family oriented guy and I think he will spend more time with family and friends. As to his being chosen as a team captain, I would hope that it does happen. He would make a great one for either the Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup. I also believe that if he does go into the business side of the game, like Nicklaus or Norman, it would be another good addition to the course design people currently out there. He has always been a class act type of golfer that leaves a good impression on followers of the game. Also, he is a BRAND LOYAL player, and to me, that speaks worlds about the guy.
