Player of the Year

Player of the Year

  •

Alright for those of us who watch the Golf Channel it has been a major discussion on there of who is up for player of the year.  Some say Tiger because of his six wins, even without a major, some say it could be anyone of the top 5 in the Fedex Cup race.  Just wanted to see what the FJ community feels on this subject.

tiger, unless steve stricker win that is wins the final leg of the fed ex cup. i believe he is the only compitition  to tiger for POY

  •

agreed beej, i''ve been touting stricker for some time now as long as TW doesn't win the FedEx Cup next week.

  •

agree with Beej and Mondo, don't see anyone else that has a chance other than Stricker or Tiger. Would be great to see the Wisconsin boy get it done this week.

Tiger has had a good year but since people put him on a different level, 6 wins without a major isn't good enough for a lot of the golf channel hosts.  It would be automatic Player of the Year if anyone else had 6 wins without a major.

Clearly, if the man wins then he is POY. I think a discussion could be had based on who actually wins the Tour Championship if it's not Tiger. Could players vote in SS if he wins The Tour Championship? Would they? It's actually an interesting question, because while Tiger has done his usual wizzardry, he had a couple more tournamnets in his grasp and *GASP*, did not close the deal! So he showed he's human. That could be enough to get Strick the vote if he comes through in Atlanta.

My vote is for Strick to come through!

Absolutely Tiger.  I don't feel there is even another contender.  Even without a major victory the consistency with which he has played all year combined with 6 victories and more than likely the Fedex Cup title makes this a no-brainer.

Just don't count your chickens before they hatch. I have to agree with Kelly on TWs lack of a major. He may be a fantastic golfer who can make big comebacks, but he has failed to win the big ones.  Stricker may be the one , who, if he wins the FedEx Cup this weekend, would be a better choice. There is also the chance that Kenny Perry may have a chance at that title this time considering his performance this year.

I think that if Strick can win the FedExCup, then he's deserving.   If ANYone else wins the Cup (Tiger included) then I think Tiger will be the POTY pretty easily.  Stricker is the only other one that has made enough noise consistently throughout the year, and he's deserving.  Without the FedExCup though, his year just wouldn't stack up to Tiger's win count.

with TW winning the FedEx Cup, I have to believe he will be POY.

Oddly, I'm afraid he might win both POY and Comeback POY...don't think that has ever been done...wondering the chances...

Even though I am not a fan, I would have to say Tiger. With the exception of the Open, he has played very well all season.

It's hard to see anyone else contending for POY or CB - POY... I think it would be a great honor for TW to take both home.

I can see Tiger getting CPOY, but POY still is up for grabs. It is going to be interesting to see who actually does get the awards and what the reasons are going to be. I, for one, would vote for Stricker, even though he has not won the FedEx cup.

I like SS for POY. My opinion is that giving it to him would show some of the other players that it is possible.

Tiger does not always act like he deserves it, his temper and actions are childish at times.

    agreeed he has played well
