Presidents Cup Captain's Picks

Couples - I'll got with Hunter Mahan and Lucas Glover.  Tough to ignore either of those guys right now, but they certainly aren't the only deserving players.

Norman - this is a little tougher to me.  I'll go Rory Sabbatini, because he's close and a good competitive player.  Michael Sim would be my next.  He's played pretty much as well as anyone out there this year, and playing well again recently - I think he could have an impact.

No idea, but I'm sure they will be well thought out decisions.

I'm with you for Michael Sim.  Even though he is a Nationwide player (I guess technically he is on the PGA Tour after his recent promotion), I would pick him.  He is a great player.

Think the Couples picks above are dead on, but no idea what Normal will do. Should be a fun one to watch either way.

I'm thinking along the same lines for the US, you can't deny Glover's playing well as is Mahan.  For Norman, it will be interesting...

Looks like Couples was listening to the suggestions for Glover and Mahan.  Good picks.

What is the thought on Adam Scott being chosen?  Interesting choice, maybe he will have a break through at the President's Cup or maybe Norman was itching to get his hands on him to get that swing working again and this was his best option!

I'm beside myself with the Adam Scott pick...as for Freddy, I think he got it right although I'm sure Brian Gay might have something to say about that.

The GC (Golf Channel) wanted to see Freddy pick himself and Watson instead of Glover and Mahan.  Their reasoning is because unlike the Ryder Cup winning doesn't necessarily matter and that they could probably still hold their own against the ROW (Rest of the World).

I can't say I disagree; I would have liked to see Freddy and Watson in, it could have made for a great memory.

I would agree with Glover, but I think Verplank would have to be a better choice. The way he has played and what he did at  the Deutsche Bank tourney should have made him a better choice than Mahan. Mahan's credentials are not as good as Verplanks and Verplank has, by far, a more mature approach and has more experience.

I like the Mahan pick.  He was fantastic last year in the Ryder Cup.  Verplank has made more teams, but never had a showing like Mahan did at last years Ryder Cup. 

Like others abovr, I think Couples got it right and was shocked by Norman's picks.  Especially with Scott. 

I've been living a pretty sheltered life lately because of work and just became aware of Normans pick of Ryo as his other captains pick...it almost appears as if Norman's picks were "marketing" picks as opposed to picking the best players to help his team win...

From the looks of Norman's picks, I wonder what he was thinking. It doesn't appear to be picking the best players as compared to Couples. Unless Norman knows something that the rest of us don't, it definitely looks like we will keep the Presidents Cup.
