President's Cup

President's Cup

What is everyone's thoughts on the President's Cup?  It is coming up in just over a month's time: October 6-11at Harding Park in San Francisco.  I think the US team will be easier to pick than the International side.  What are your thoughts on some of the potential pick.   We've had some discussions about Adam Scott.  Will Norman pick him?

The US team is stacking up pretty nicely.  The International team is going to have their work cut out for them.  I can't wait until October.

I would be surprised to see Adam on the team... as far as the USA side goes, I was watching Freddy couples talk during the delay today and he said he is watching a couple players at the tournament this week.

Phil is on the team but has not commited to play.  If Phil does not play and gives Freddy ample notice (I believe by the end of this week), Freddy can choose a new man.  If he does let him know sooner than later (before the weeks end) the spot goes to the 11th man.  So, depending on what Phil does, Freddy may get an extra choice or be given the 11th man.

I don't know who he will pick, he is obviously taking this very seriously, and will use his best judgement.  Freddy also has Michael Jordan on his side as far as "assistants" go.  That, to me, is pretty cool.

Believe Jordan was an assistant to Azinger also, that worked out pretty well. Would be great o see Phil in the President's Cup, but with the year his family has had I can understand if he backs out.

I love these team competitions.  I think they are great.  The President's Cup ranks below the Ryder Cup for me, but I like them both.

I am hoping that Freddy might pick Nick Watney as a captains pick.  I am very much looking forward to the event.  I played Harding last summer.  I think there will be lots of birdies made.

I dont think Norman will have a hard time picking players.  I don't think he will pick Adam Scott this year.  Scott needs to take a break and really decide what he going to do with his golf game.  I hope Phil can play but family comes first.

As much as I like Adam Scott, I don't think he'll be in the mix.  It seems that over the last few years, picks have gone to the CURRENT hot players, and it's really worked out.  Not necessarily the guys with a little better long term track record.  Should be fun to watch!

+1 on the Nick Watney pick.

Adam Scott doesn't deserve to be on the team so I hope Norman doesn't pick him, I'm sure there is someone more deserving.
