14-year-old at The Masters

  •

How about this kid winning the Asia-Pacific Amateur this week and qualifying for The Masters? Tianlang Guan led wire-to-wire, ended up 15 under.

Pretty impressive. It will be an amazing experience for him.

Very impressive for that young man/kid!  I couldn't imagine playing in the Masters at age 14.  It will be a great experience for sure.

  •

You beat me to it. good for him. We will see 14, seems a  little young for such a serious place like Augusta though.

  •

Interested to see how he does at the Masters.  He's the youngest the to qualify since Matteo Manassero when he was 16.  Tianlang Guan is only 14!

The game is really growing there, I expect to see many good players to come into the spotlight in the near future. Women's golf has seen a huge flood of excellent Asian golfers, the men I believe will see it well.

I watched some of the early morning ESPN coverage of the Asia-Pacific Am, the kid has a ton of game. It will be interesting to see  how he plays at Augusta.

You never know with a 14 year old.  He may just be oblivious to the pressure and to his surrroundings and light it up.  He has nothing to loose after all and everthing to gain.

Unreal that a KID, yes KID can handle that type of pressure.  Congrats to him and I wish him the best at the Masters.  In listening to the GC, they are bringing up his distance at Augusta.  They are not sure a 250 yrd drive will suit him on that course, but it will certainly be fun to watch.

They showed highlights of his performance and it was impressive. But I wonder about his coming into this competitive area too soon. It seems that many of the  younger players enter into the fast paced Pro Tour too soon and just don't make it thru to the end. That said, this young man has a lot going for him and will be watching for him in the future.

Guys, take it easy on the kid.  He played in and won a tournament that qualifies the winner to play in the Masters.  It doesn't guarantee the winner making the cut or anything else.  I think any one of us would give our right arm to have an opportunity to play at Augusta National, much less get an invitation to play in the Masters.  Remember, several winning amateurs get to play in the Masters.  It gives them a terrific opportunity to mix with the pros, get a taste of life at the top, and access to a fantastic venue.  Congratulations to this youngster for accomplishing that.  Let's wait and see how he does.

It will certainly be interesting to watch. Congrats to him for making it.

Good for him, but like all other sports I believe there needs to be an age requirement for All the majors ... Keep the kids in the Amature rankings. Look at the young kids now, they all are great but it's about maturity not just game.
