Cabrera; What a gesture!

  •

Just read in Golf.com that Masters Champion Angel Cabrera paid for 100% of the meals distributed from the "caddy wagon" at the Deutsche Bank Championship. The customary thing to do is for a winning player to pay for a day or so of food for the caddies, but this is the first time a player has bought the entire week. While the overall amount of $$ may seem small based on his winnings this year, this is a really nice and classy move.

Well done Angel! A tip of the hat and a bow to you.

Just read an article where it said Angel C. bought all the meals for all the caddys @ the caddywagon this past weekend @ the TPC Boston. An estimate of the cost is about 5,000.00. Chump change for the Masters champ but still a nice gesture.

That is a nice gesture.  Classy guy.

Very kind indeed.  I think professional golfers are some of the most generous people in sports.  These guys do a lot of charity work and always seem to donate.  The PGA helps a lot too.  It's great to be part of a sport with such generous and caring individuals.

    What a guy!!

Sure, chump change but the gesture was not only classy but what you think a good professional would/should/could do for those that make their lives a bit easier when they play.

    +1...definitely a classy move.

I don't know a lot about Cabrera, but I now have a lot of respect for him as a person.  Very classy move.

I would suspect that this gesture comes from his roots of not having everything handed to him on a sliver platter while growing up.  Good to see he has not lost sight of that.  Very classy.

This changes my view of Angel Cabrera. During a practice round  at the Barclays, I saw young kids ask for an autograph when he was walking off a green. He told them not now, but after the round. Everyone else was signing autographs and I thought he couldn't sign some kids hat. Well with this act, in my eyes he went from heel to class act. I tip my hat to Angel Cabrera.

It's great that more and more golfers think about their roots rather than themselves.

Every time I see this post pop up I think what an amazing gesture it was which goes to show what a professional he is.

Makes me wonder if anyone else has ever done anything like this...

Have you ever heard of a baseball star buying lunch or anything for the clubhouse staff at the ball park?

What makes the act even more classy is that with Pro Golfers, they are paid on their finish, no guarantee money. I think that is why Golfers are a different breed of Professional Athlete, they have to preform to get a check, kind of like everybody else in the world. Their checks are just a bit bigger.
