Stat Soup

  •

With the availability of every stat we can think of (and even some we can't!) from basics like putting stats, to scoring average on Friday after having waffles for breakfast, which ones do you find the most interesting or the most telling of a player's overall skills??  World Ranking?  Scoring Average?  Maybe a scrambling stat?

Are there any other stats that they haven't thought of that you'd like to see?

Par three scoring average.  The guys that can score on the par threes are usually close to the top of the leaderboard.

Boxers or Briefs? Golf has more stats already that any other sport. Maybe we should think of some stats that are NOT necessary.

I would guess it would have to be scoring average.  If you're not scoring, then you're not making money.

Scoring average on par 5s.  Who gets the most eagles.

the scramble stat is always a good one, who can take a tough shot and turn it into something. Also agree with caddy13 on scoring average for par 5's.

One of the stats most important to me is getting up and down.  There will be those days when you're not hitting it great and not hitting greens so saving par by getting up and down will save your round.  I also concentrate on hitting fairways...with a good drive the likelihood hitting greens in regulation is increased dramatically giving you the opportunity to shoot a good score.

too many stats to keep track of, but it's fun looking them up sometimes when you're comparing player abilities.  what i would like to see is who out there on the tour is human?  how often a player finds OB or misses 3 ft putts.

Add a +1 on this for me. But also look at the guys who are consistently scoring below par on the par 5s. That is where they can really made a difference on their score card. Most times that is where the majority of Eagles are made also. Those par 5s are the big money makers and really give you a good insight into the player and his game.
