But did you know that the soldiers that guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier serve for only 2 years and can never swear or consume alcohol for their entire lives or give up a special medal that is given to them upon completion of their service at the Tomb. Furthermore, when they first start, they cannot leave the barracks under the Tomb for 6 months, with no TV and must dedicate their time off to study and memorizing the names of all 172 notables buried there so that they can name them to anyone who asks. The Tomb has been guarded uninterrupted since 1939 and has never been without guards on duty 24-7, including when a hurricane aftermath went thru the area.
