"Off Season" Ideas

    Hey FJ Guys!

Been thinking about topics for the off season, since many of we Ambassadors will be moping around for the next 5 months wishing we were playing golf. Since you guys are up in Boston, you have the same issues!

So what kind of stuff can we talk about? How can we help you work through the pre-season planning that you're involved in? As you work towards the PGA Show in January, is there any insights we can provide around products that aren't fully developed yet?

What about silly season? Can we come up with a contest for the Fal events and some of the stuff like the Skins Game and such?

I'm sure you're thinking about it too, so let us know what we can help with!

What if we set up a weekly pick em for College Basketball?

Would just be for fun, could be done on Yahoo I'm sure.

It is scary to think of no golf for 5 months! Something to keep the site growing would be great, OUtiger ha a great idea about a b-ball pool.

Will need all of our warm weather members to keep us informed on how they are doing over the winter while we in the midwest are working on our "shovel wedges"

c'mon tar heal!  we ain't done in michigan yet and i generally start back up by the end of march.  4months tops you'll be back at it, you'll see.

Even though we can play through the winter in Southwest Virginia - there are quite a few of us that actually bowl in a league from Sept/Oct through April -  It's night time but still some good exercise and we can get together to talk about upcoming golf season, new equipment, and who is going to beat up of who.

    GO HOKIES

It really isn't that long untill the spring up here in the north. With a couple of trips south and being able to play most of the year on Cape Cod, even if it is a bit cold!

Try to plan a few long weekends away and it will be spring before you know it!

beej.... Hey man, I will play in any weather at or around 50 degrees, so I'm there with you. That said, I start up when my course here opens, which is generally April 1 or later. I'm kind of bound by that. I do get to enjoy a winter vacation or some business trips that include golf, but those are just events and not regular play.

My Myrtle Beach trip is April 20 each year, so I try to get some work in before that so I'm not hacking it up. Yeah... 4-5 months.

Do any of you guys sit around and think about getting new golf equipment and what is going in the bag for spring?  Or, maybe you're getting a new bag for the spring?  I've been playing an all black Titleist stand bag for a couple of years now - I think the x76 model (could be wrong).  But, I'm thinking about getting something with a little more color for next season.  Also thinking about testing the 909D2 driver.  I've currently got the 907D2 in the bag.

ESPN does a good pool for march maddness.  We could get the members here to make their brackets and see who wins.

I never really stop playing golf, I don't play as often but I still swing and work on putting a lot at the local indoor facility but hitting off of mats just isn't the same!

    Memphis

Of course I "dream" all the time about new gear and stuff. Actually, 2009 was a really major year for acquisitions for me; I got a new staff bag, 1 pair of shoes, 2 new hybrids, and new 3 and 5 woods. Not sure 2010 holds any new major buys except some new Icons, which will absolutely happen. Had my wife helping me to design a couple pairs last night.

Then I watched a hockey game and poured through the TGW catalog for an hour!

I would love to donate to this forum, but as you all know, I golf year round now. What Idid do when I wasn't playing YR was reading a lot of golf books and getting a lot of golf mags. It helped pass the time.

Memphis, I think I may have the same bag as you... mines all black with white titleist on the sides.  I don't think I am changing the bag until it falls apart on me, it's a solid bag.

As for the 909 D2, I think you'll like it.  I used a 905R, tried the 907 but didn't really like it so I threw it in the closet then the 909 came and I love it.  I have the D2 with a UST V2 65g X-stiff shaft and it's a real bomber.

If you find out you really like the 909D2/D3 or DComp and would like to get a deal, let me know and I will see if I can pull some strings and get you one cheap.
