NXT Tour ball

NXT Tour ball

Just switch to the NXT Tour ball about a month ago and am very happy with it so far, does anyone else hit this ball? I am finding it performs almost identical to the Pro V1and is easier on the wallet.

  •

I have played this ball. It is a pretty good ball for the money, but it really doesn't spin as much as a Pro V1 or Pro V1x. If you need to hit the ball a bit longer and possibly are willing to give up some workability this might be a good compromise ball. I also find it to be a bit "hot" off the club around the greens.

I haven't used any ball other than a Pro V1 for almost 4 years now.  I had used NXT before though, it is a good ball for the price.  There are some obvious differences but overall, you have chosen a solid ball.

Totally agree with the spin comment, and the extra distance never hurts.

very sweet i am going to post a thing on a maxfli ball soon

I use the NXT tour quite a bit. I prefer the ProV1x for the lower spin off the tee but the NXT tour has similar spin off the driver (the new model, the old NXT tour was like hitting a cheap 2 pc ball).

I didn't like the green side aspects of the NXT tour until I switched to the Vokey Spin Mill on all my wedges so I can get the ball to sit when I need to. With the longer irons, I just play the shot to release a little bit but it will check pretty good if you keep the swing speed up. The cover also holds up a little better than it's pricer cousin.

I have made the choice to give up any extra distance that I could get from a ball to have the best feel from inside 100 yards. For me the extra 6-10 yards off the driver is not worth any reduced feel around the greens.

I agree about the feel of the ProV1.  I have tried other golf balls, but always come back to the ProV1.   I just like that soft feel.  In my opinion, even the high end balls from other companies don't compare to the feel of the ProV1.  My only complaint with the ProV1 is that it is not as durable as some of the other balls that I've tried.

Thanks everyone for the input, might be a ball to consider now that the colder weather is upon us here in the Midwest.

Sounds like they are worth their price, but won't perform like the Pro V series.

Quite a quandry here... ProV1-ProV1X or NXT Tour....

I am a die hard Titleist guy and used the Pro-V for many years and went to the Pro-V1x last year. It was working great but through the year I noticed a constant drop in distance of about 10 yeards. So I wrote a bunch of it off to "the aging process" and that my swing speed was dropping. But year I started to drop a couple more yards, which was clearly not swing related.

I bought some NXT Tours this summer and immediately picked up a few more yards; somewhere between last years loss and today... When I asked my pro about it he said that the Pro-V series is really for better players with higher swing speeds and most likely, as is seen by the responses, for the players with 5 or less handicaps. Big hitters and big time spinners.

Since thats not me, I am finding that the NXT really gets me the best of all world's... some respectable distance and good greenside performance. As Fishbone said, my Spin Milled has done the trick around the greens, so I can get the ball to stop well. It sounds as if we're on the righ ttrack Shaun!

Pro V is a softer ball so it will tend to get some scuffs sooner than the NXT Tour but I can't seem to feel comfortable over any other ball.  Pro V models are definitely not for everyone, but the NXT is a great choice no matter what skill level you are.  As you progress and lower your handicap, it will still fit your game.

Another solid choice for a similar price range ball is the Bridgestone series.

I will practice with NXT's during the winter months. But during competitive rounds the ProV1 X is the only ball.

I was given a dozen Taylor Made Tour preferred and they were not a bad ball, just not a Titleist

Ive tried the NXT and wasnt impressed with it.  It doesnt spin as much as the Pro V1 and isnt much cheaper.

If you cant afford to play the Pro V1, you might as well just save a little money and buy the DT Carry or DT Roll because the NXT isnt going to spin much more than the DT.

I play the DT Carry and dont have any issues with getting the ball to check on wedges and short irons.

I've used the ProV1 & ProV1x since they came out and like the performance better than other Titleist balls. I would agree with 19Hole about the hotness of the NXT ball from close distances. Fro me the Prov & V1x are the better balls even though they are a bit more costly.

    TitleistWI,

Have you tried the new NXT Tour or are you comparing your DT to the old NXT Tour?  The new one is a lot different than the previous version.  The previous version used to be hard and really didn't do much as far as performance, but the new one is a lot more closely linked to the Pro V series.
