New equipment in your bag this season

New equipment in your bag this season

  •

I believe we have had similar posts regarding new equipment...

Wondering however who has put anything new in their bag this season.

I recently went out and switched my gap wedge from a 900 Series Cleveland to the CG-12 by Cleveland just last week.

Anyone put a new club in their bag recently?

Took out the 2 and 3 irons and replaced them with a pair of hybrids. BEST change I have ever made!

I got all new clubs this spring except for my Vokey wedges. For the first time in my life I had to go to regular shafts. In a few more years I am probably going to be using fly rods for shafts

I want to try the Titleist 909 D2, but I've been hitting the 907 D2 really well.  Don't know if I want to switch it out, but I like the look of the new 909s.

New conforming vokey wedges are in there but that's all I've changed.  I don't change equipment a lot, I will get a lot of the new stuff to try out but if it's not any better than what I'm using, it just goes in the back up bags.

I try not to make any equipment changes during the season but I do plan on putting a new Driver in the bag. Although the one I play now works great, I hit a Cobra L5V last week similar to what the setup is for my driver and it added about 15- 20 yards and straight.

I would like to be 1 to 2 clubs closer to the green after each drive.

i might buy the new callaway wedges some time soon if i can get a hold of them

Took out my old Wilson wedges and replaced them with Vokey spin milled. 52, 56 & 60 degree. Also took out my 2 & 3 irons so that I carried only the 14. Oops, also added new putter, a Callaway Rossie 2. The old putter was one I won at a golf outing and was an off brand, but it just didn't fit my game and my original putter was a Cary Middlecoff style blade. You younger guys probably don't remember who Middlecoff was, but we older folks do.

Callaway Rossie 2 = Odyssey Rossie 2?  Did you notice a big chage from a blade putter to the mallet, for a lot of players I see it's either on or the other, not a lot of people like both!

Mondo, this was a big "transition" year for me.

Started by adding a Taylor Made Burner 3 wood in February on vacation in Palm Springs. Hit it so well that in April I got the Taylor Made Burner 5 wood to match when I was in Myrtle Beach. Big improvement in the fairway for me.

Then I replaced my Vokey wedges (52 and 58) and went with the Spin Milled versions. Happened to be in San Antonio and the Edwin Watts guy gave me a great deal!

Just this past August I was over in Grand Rapids for a meeting and wandered into a pro shop. They were discounting the Taylor Made hybrids, so I traded in my 3-4 Dual Rescue's for the '08 Burner hybrids (3-4).

In the end, there are 2 keys. I shouldn't travel, because I always succumb to buying some new golf gear that I "have to have." Second, beware the "rules change." I have to get new wedges again in a couple years since Vokey has the CC versions of conforming wedges, so I'll "have to have" those. Argh!

Tar Heel, how do you get a couple of years out of a wedge? I find that I need to replace mine 2 to 3 times a season.

  •

I'm looking into replacing my irons this year. The AP2's look awesome, but would like to demo the 710's before I make a change.

  •

I can relate to staying away from golf stores, usually can't leave without buying something (even if I have enough of that something).

Sounds like you had a whole new bag to get used to this year, how was your game?  Did the new stuff work like you'd hoped it would?

I know my biggest problem when trying a mallet is I find my eyes wandering from the ball to the watching the mallet swing to make sure it is on line.

Don't have that problem with a blade for whatever reason...so I just stay with a blade...one less thing to think about when playing.

Took the plunge and added a Scotty Cameron fastback to the bag.  It is already awesome!  Going to get it pimped at the studio in Gator colors.
