Ambassador notification

I know I have  brought this up before, but would it be possible to post a notice when we have a new Ambassador?? It would be nice to welcome them by  those of us who have already achieved that level.

And speaking of levels, has there been and consideration of setting levels in the Ambassador group as EMKelly had suggested in an earlier posting??

  •

I do agree with you eagle...it would be great to know when someone does reach Ambassador status to congratulate them properly...

I also like EM's suggestion regarding levels...

What do you guys think Mike/Chris...are these requests a possibility?

I suppose if we are spit balling ideas here... how about an "Ambassadors Only" board?  When the site gets a lot bigger, it might be nice to have a place for us ambassadors to go where we can have talks and others cannot see unless they have the status?

  •

Sounds like a good idea to me.

  •

Whoa..........slow down a second. An ambassadors only board ? If the purpose of this forum is to exchange thoughts and ideas on golf, than why make certain members input exclusive? That would be like when the pros give input you can only  read it if you have a tour card.  I just don't think it would be fair to the rest of the community.

  •

Ambassadors only area makes sense especially if someone wants feedback that is semi-private but in a group forum...definitely would have its advantages.

  •

I'm not saying it is practical now, but in the future, it may be something to consider.  I think if this site hits 100,000 active members, you may want to confer with the ones you have the most faith in (or the most longevity), your fellow ambassadors.

As I said, at this point, it isn't an issue or something to put into play, but in the future, you may want to have a place where ambassadors can go and talk among themselves.  I think there could be real benefits.

Sorry Ty, I am not trying to black ball you, just saying in the FUTURE, well after you will be an ambassador.

i kind of agree here. levels are fine but to have an ambassadors only board defeats the idea of having a community at all.  it kind of suggests segregation of a type.  it suggests an i'm better than you attitude and would probably stunt the growth of the community as a whole.  for private conversations the friend function and msg system.  a chat function could give all the privacy of conversation needed.

    Greetings all...

Dicey topic here. The Forum is meant to be inclusive, so have a "Ambassadors only" area would be a against that. This is a tough one, because we want to have more people involved, not less.

That said, I do want to know when someone hits their status so I can send a note of congratulations.

A lot of good insight here and I apologize if I started a problematic topic (with Ambassador Boards).

I wouldn't think it should cause segregation or cause anyone to think others believe they are better (or at least it shouldn't), more so just a place to go to have a conversation with all the ambassadors... maybe about the latest gear we all just received.  I wouldn't expect ambassadors to stop commenting on the threads here, but would kind of be nice to discuss issues that only deal with ambassadors with other ambassadors (when the site is larger) instead of having to message each ambassador (who knows how many that is) and not be able to have fluent conversations with each other.

I don't think it would stunt the growth of the community since everyone is already fighting to get to ambassador status, so it gives them even more to look forward to, another challenge and reward along the road to ambassadorship.

I mean, if I came here today and saw there was a board just for ambassadors and a board where everyone is commenting and having a good time, I wouldn't be turned off by it, I would be more curious to see what it looks like and what goes on "behing the doors".

Maybe it's just my curious nature that would make me just as into the community or work harder but I would think the last problem would be reduction in members.

  •

I agree that it somewhat confuses the idea of "community."  Maybe if it were only a board that shows up the ambassadors, it might make it less hierarchy-like.

I agree, this forum is for all members to participate and have input. If Ambassadors want to discuss things privately, they can become friends and have private conversations.

I would have to agree with Kelly on this one. We would not be encouraging a drop in membership, but would be opening up another way to message Ambassadors without going thru the whole system. I sincerely don't believe that others would feel offended and would probably try very hard to attain our status to see the other side of things.

I'm not trying to not include anyone, but private conversations only go between two persons, if I wanted to talk to say, all the ambassadors about something, I wouldn't want to private message them all and then have to go through the process of telling everyone in the various private chats what is going on and what not.

I am not disagreeing that the forum is for all members to participate and have input.  Making an "Ambassadors Section" (rather than board, but just like another topic on the bottom under "Socks" that says "Ambassadors Only" with restricted access) would allow ambassadors to talk with each other like we are here and still participate everywhere else.  Everyone that is working their way up to ambassador can use the other topics (shoes, general, tour, outerwear, socks) and once they obtain ambassador they are able to get into the ambassador section.

I don't want to create hierarchy but a place where ambassadors can go and hear only input from other ambassadors.  I could see the topics in that board as "FJ sent us new socks" or "What FJ Ambassador Head cover did you go with".  I wouldn't imagine anything would be more than what pertains only to ambassadors.

agree with grumpy, if you want to chat separate from the community, open up some dialogue amongst yourselves in a chat or message board -- as for why I enjoy this community is the insight I learn from each of you in some of the things you do, how you do things and the friends I've met.

I think an Ambassador only board defeats what FJ has tried to put together in regards to opening dialogue for business purposes.

I'm against it...if it goes to a vote!!
