Insuring Your Clubs

Insuring Your Clubs

  •

I brought this up  in another Forum, but thought this might be a good  idea to bring up in its own Forum. In many cases when you either  lose or have your clubs stolen, your insurance company will not cover the loss unless you can verify what you have lost. I keep a record of what clubs I have and have also notified my insurer of this fact. If, God forbid, I  have my clubs lost or have stolen, I have a record of them with my insurer. They can't then deny my claim.

It is something to consider and think about.

good idea, not something I have really thought about doing but would really stink to have to replace the set completely if something happened.

  •

One of my closest friend and regular golf buddies is an insurance salesman and he said the same thing.  Of course, I have yet to do it, lol

  •

Mine are covered under my parents home owners insurance.  All we had to do is fill out a form, give them pictures and tell them the approximate value of each item (which they verified with an outside source).  I think there wasa $10 addition to my parents insurance a month but it insures my clubs up to $10,000 in the event they are stolen or lost.

I had a set of clubs stolen from me.It breaks your heart. The hardest club to replace for me was the putter.I had a Ping B-60. Now I have 5.00 garage sale special. As this happened about 7 years ago I'm now willing(and able) to shell out some coin for clubs. But the putter? If it aint broke, don't fix it. The idea of keeping complete records of club purchaces is a good one.I only wish I was more dilligent than.

Your personal profile on this site makes for a good record for your clubs in case you ever have that unfortunate event

I have had a set stolen, actually both mine and my wife's. Our insurance company just asked for a list and replacement cost. No other questions, claim was paid within 7 days.

My clubs are covered under my home owners policy in the event they are lost or stolen.

I believe that is the case in most states unless it is stipulated in your policy or your policy says you need an insurance rider for clubs.

Hey bholley, thanks for the info regarding the profile acting as a good record...don't know if I would have thought of that.

If you have to file a loss with an insurance don't forget they don't call them "Adjusters" for nothing

Pictures are probably the quickest and easiest way to keep track....would recommend storing an electronic copy in e-mail or somewhere that it can't be lost or destroyed.

I have photos and serial numbers written down.  That way if they do get stolen, I can send them out to the local pawn shops and such so they know what to look for.

Kelly, good idea to have photos and serial numbers. The police always like that so they can trace them back to the owner and also to know how far away the thief is taking his loot.

Yeah bholley but that's what having friends in the golf business with receipt books are for...they adjust down based on the receipts I give them (was that my outloud voice saying that)...

I have my fitting papers and serial numbers in a fireproof box along with other important documents. My clubs are part of the family( my wife would consider them a less loved step child)
