A NEW WAY TO TRAVEL THE COURSE

A NEW WAY TO TRAVEL THE COURSE

  •

Will be going to the Phoenix area in a week. Staying at the Westin Kierland and I see they have a rather unique alternative to the Golf Cart, the Segway Personal Transporter. I have ridden one before but not one set up for golf. With everyone jetting around to your own ball and being able to take it right up to the green I think it would speed things up.

Any body used one of these for golf?

  •

strange, I will be interested to find out what you think

  •

Haven't used one of them, but I will tell you if you haven't been to the Kierland Resort before bholley you will really really enjoy it.

Beautiful courses and top notch instruction.

If you get the chance, go see the LeBauves (husband/wife Resort pros).

    Enjoy...

  •

I used one while golfing a year or so ago.  They actually work pretty well.  Good thing you have rode one before, because it was tough to get used to but once you do, you do play rather quickly.  The ones I used were equipped with GPS so they were actually really nice.

You will have to let us know what you think.  I enjoyed the experience, I know they can't be used for everyone but I wouldn't mind seeing more golf courses migrate towards this sort of transportation.

I was there a few years back. I really enjoyed the bagpipes at sundown. When were you there?

  •

Too funny.  I've heard of this before, but never seen any 'action' shots.  Let us know what you think when you come back.

  •

I could see people racing down the fairways on these things. bholley, give us an update when you get back. Have fun.

I have used one before, but not on a golf course. Have always wanted to, so write a full report please!

My advice from using on the street.... go slow and easy to start.

  •

Kierland is awesome, great place to play. I'm interested in hearing how the Segways work out there -- a lot of the fairways slope to the center, so I'm thinking there will be some serious lean!

bholley, I was there about 6 years ago, don't remember bagpipes...

Wish I had seen / heard them, sounds like a great ending to a great day...

Don't know if I would like one. Too much of an old timer. That said, you are looking like congrats are soon to be forthcoming when you attain the Ambassador level. Let me be the first to jump the gun and say CONGRATULATIONS. You're only a few points away and looking good.

That would have been a SWEET way to end an evening of golf in AZ.

Good round of golf, post round beers/drinks and bagpipes while overlooking the course next to a nice fire...should be a commercial.
