A contender at this weeks SXSW Film Festival in Austin TX....Check out this delightful trailer about Young Lives through the Camera Lens playing one of the world's oldest sport  - Golf....

"About: Each year, the world’s best 7 year-old golfers descend on Pinehurst, North Carolina to compete in the World Championships of Junior Golf. THE SHORT GAME follows eight of these very young athletes on their quest to become the sport’s next phenom."

"Plot Outline: THE SHORT GAME follows the lives of eight of the best 7-year old golfers in the world as they train for and compete in the World Championships of Junior Golf. The annual tournament held at golfing mecca Pinehurst, North Carolina, brings in 1500 young golfers from 54 different countries and determines who will be crowned golf’s next phenom. In its course, the eight stories entwine to form a fascinating and often funny portrait of a group of very young athletes and their families, in which the narrow-focused, peculiar and highly competitive junior golf subculture becomes both a window into contemporary global society and an inspiring reflection of the human condition."

Lovely film idea! I want to see this film. Sure beats most of the drivel Hollywood plasters on the screen these days...

    Fantastic kids. Thanks for sharing.

That's an awesome idea and a great booster for the kids and their supporting parent/guardians!

GGG, at our club there's this little boy who I think started showing up at our club with his dad and his little sister, (I think the kid's name is Kris Stiles.)  Sometimes, when I get a chance to relax by our par three range during mid day, they would show up there for practice.  It is a treat to see them hit balls and also a pleasure to see them so well disciplined and dressed for golf.

When I was out in Thailand for a visit a month ago, I also had a pleasure of playing golf with a friend's 7 year old who I thought wouldn't finish 9 in humid heat, but instead showed us how it's done through 18 holes with just the help of cold water and a dry towel, but a gorgeous day!  He is also in some program out there.  It is always a pleasure to see kids like them in golf.

    Thank you!
