Prototype Balls

  •

To my surprise in Monday's mail I received a sleeve of prototype Titleist golf balls. Seems like I was picked by R&D to test drive(no pun intended) the new ball & report back what I think about various aspects of the balls performance. I feel honored to be chosen for this test but I think if Acushnet  knew how bad my game is, they'd picked someone else. LOL

they picked me and a couple of other people in the FJ community so dont put yourself down

Sammy, many of us got the balls as well. I did my evaluation over the weekend. Balls isn't bad, but I'm not sure the one I received is one I would change to. Jury still out.

I haven't received any balls for evaluation, but I am also not a memeber of Team Titliest either.

What's the difference between the new protoype vs. the Pro Vs?

I think it depends on what balls you received.  You have to be a TT member to get them.  If your profile is up to date, you'll receive whatever test ball is most like the ball you play now.  I got a sleeve of test V1's.  I found them to be straighter (less spin) and lower.  I got a bit more distance out of every club, but had a hard time holding the greens with my hybrids.  I also couldn't hit spinny chip shots as well.

This reminds me to test the balls I received.  I think, just by the looks of it, it doesn't look like Pro V1, I think these are hard balls.  But I'll doing the tests this weekend.

I think there is a reason why everyone got a set of test balls.  We should return the favor and give feedback.

I got mine yesterday as well and they feel a bit firmer than the Prov1xs that I play now. I will be taking them out as soon as the weather breaks, I am excited to tee em' up.

I found the balls i received to play very similar to what you are describing. Flatter trajectory and less spin off the driver. The ball held it line better in the windy conditions that I tested them in.

Did you get black numbers?  I normally play the V1, so I'm assuming what I got was V1 prototypes.

I did get the black numbers. They felt similar to the Pro V1, so I am assuming that is what they are.

I got a sleeve today.  Per the initial R&D eval form, I indicated that I use V1Xs and they sent me the red number so who knows.
