I have a hard case that I use and make sure to wrap the heads of my clubs with towels to avoid any banging while travelling. I find this works well and "knock on wood" have not had any problems with club breakage.
I have a tour-size travel bag that I put my stand bag, clubs and clothes in. It seems to work well.
