I have totally changed the way I practice. Before I could hit 25 7-irons in a row. But I read a book of Pia Nilsson & Lynn Marriot "The game before the game"  and now I never hit the same shot twice. It feels more natural when I swing and I dont think about how I swing but the result of the shot. Also always parctice short game and putting with one ball. Good reading, specially for golfers that have played for a while.

Now I can practice for 30 minutes with full concentration instead of hitting balls for hours. Try it!

This sounds like something I need to read.  I have a certain lack of concentration when I practice.  I get bored relativley quickly and start to hit all kinds of goofy shots.  I am going to have to go out later and try and find this book.

I start out by stretching.  I then loosen up by swinging two clubs (7 & 8) for a couple of mintues.  I then start out hitting 5-10 shots with a 58 wedge.  I then hit 3-5 shots with each club in following order....

    8,6,4,5wood, 3wood, 3hybrid, 5, 7, 9, pitching, 52

I then head to the putting green for 10-15 minutes.

It's odd, but I found out that most people would rather hit balls for an hr and putt for 15 minutes when it should be the other way around.  I see a lot of people with great ball striking abilities but then when it comes to putting they lose a stroke or two a hole because they don't work on it enough.

Unfortunately, hitting 15' putts isn't as fun as hitting 300 yard drivers.

I usually start off with my 8 iron and than go through all my even irons.  Than I hit all my odd irons.  After that I hit my 3 wood and driver.  With the rest of the golf balls I will hit different shots with my wedges.

You need to skip the rest of the irons and go straight to the wedges.  Someone as long as you need to have a tight short game.  You should be eating up the golf courses we play.  There is no reason you can't wipe the floor with me.

No worries!  I will teach you the ways of the wedge.  We will start today if you want.

yes, short game is where it is add.  Anything from inside 142 is a wedge for me and I feel pretty confident at that range.  I gave up hitting a million woods and irons, those are consistant enough to get me into the scoring range.

I always try to be at least 45 minutes early before my round. That way I can hit a short bucket of balls after doing some warmup exercises. I try to hit a number of different clubs to get a feel for the days round and usually start withmy 5 iron and then work around to the others including the driver.

I usually start with the wedge and then skip every other club up through the bag. I end the session with a few 3/4 wedge shots and then about a half dozen shots with the club that I will hit my first tee ball with.
