Wrapping up 2009

  •

Seems like a few days of Indian Summer are here is SW Michigan, which means I'll get 1 or 2  more rounds in here. Sadly, once November rolls in the good courses all close and only the "pastures" stay open. Got me thinking about:

Once you shut it down (if you do) what kind of maintenance and stuff do you do with the equipment? My plans in November:

    • Polish and moisturize all shoes
    • Put shoe trees in to keep shape
    • Change spikes that are worn
    • Take inventory of balls, gloves, hats, etc. Organize and store
    • Write a list of items that need replacement with "where to buy" plan based on above
    • Wash all grips and club heads
    • If grips need replacing, that happens in January after PGA Show (new colors-styles)
    • I will also take irons in and have loft & lie addressed in December based on one of y'alls previous suggestions

Finally, I'll organize all my stuff in the man cave for the winter. And then will start the indoor training for the 2010 season....

    Sad to live in Michigan...

Shutdown routine: Throw stuff in closet.

Start-up routine: Pull stuff out of closet and figure out what needs to be fixed...usually my swing is number one on the "fix" list.

My only enforced break is Christmas Eve through to about the 28th December. Other than that its golf whenever, wherever. Hate the winter though, dark nights :(

Memphis, I did not expect thia reply from you? Very "Happy Gilmore" of you...

Tell me you at least polish the FJ's?

  •

ya i just put my stuff in the garage aand wait till it time to play agian but the weather in va is wierd and strange so i might be able to fit a couple rounds in during the winter

  •

I put my shorts away and get out the long sleeve clothes.  Then business as usual.

  •

I ususally clean my stuff and start to replenish the stocks.  I'll get a couple dozen boxes of Pro V1x, couple dozen gloves, grab some new hats giving away my old ones and usually grab some more pants, shorts and shirts for the season.  Shoes are always taken care of so that isn't part of the routine.

I never really stop playing even though I live in Nebraska.  Winters here blow but fortunately we have a nice indoor place to hit balls, putt and work on the short game.  I also have a fairly large putting green in my basement with 5 holes in it so when I can't make it there, I at least work on my stroke at home.

Other than restocking the supplies, I don't do much but practice and go "MyJoysing".

I couldn't imagine living in a place where golf shuts down for the winter season.  I will be delayed a few mornings because of a frost delay but thats about it where I'm at.

Ok Ok Jas, we get it, you live in a warm climate and get to play all year round...sure keep rubbing it in to us Midwesterners as we struggle with putting our stuff away.

I'll clean my clubs and look to change warm spikes...

Look at grips and change where necessary.

My routine is about the same, take the gear out of the trunk and bring it down to the basement for the long winter. Clean everything and throw the rain hood on the bag to keep the dust out. Do like the idea about getting the lie angle checked, will be doing that for sure.

I do go down every once in awile and stare at the clubs. Will go and hit at the indoor range, but the local one is not very good so it is only for wedges really.

    Winter sucks!

I couldn't imagine being able to play year around.  Would be amazing, you would never be rusty and gives you a better opportunity to become better.

    If only...

Take inventory, Clean clubs, make sure shoes are in shoe trees and clean, Load in car, Arrive in Texas for winter, Play golf all winter.  Sorry guys, but when you retire, you too can play yearround and go to the warmer climes.
