good idea, many times I'm replying to someones comments and it ends up no where near where the original comment was posted.

I think using the quote option is about the easiest way to keep your comment with the one you are replying to even though you are still put at the bottom of the page.  I think what you're looking for may be difficult to pull off!

Really the only way to get your reply to be right after the post that you are responding to would be to be the next person to post in that forum. This works if two conditions are met: 1) the forum is not moderated (no post approvals) and 2) you get lucky enough to be the next person to actually post to the forum.

I have not seen any forums that are able to let you put your reply in a specific place, that is usually why there is a quote option.

Maybe Mike can work some majic with this but I don't think so.

over at newsvine they have a way to place comments within a comment rather than on the article itself. thing is if you comment on someone elses comment you still fall in line with others who want to make comments on that comment.  it does however keep the discussion a little closer and easier to follow.  if i knew how they did it, well...................

Is there a way to work the "Reply" tab so that if I am replying to a specific persons post in a thread of comments that my reply can sequence in specifically to that post? I was reading a few posts and if I use the "Quote" tab, it seems to still put my post at the end of the line of posts. My thought is that it would make the reading more in context as opposed to the linear way it seems now.

Hope I didn't miss some functionality somewhere.
