I don't think it will have an impact.  If he were playing, it could get into his head more, but as the captain, well he's a true professional in every sense of the word, and I think he'll still be able to do his best to rally the troops.

I had not heard of the split. I just saw a special with the 2 of them talking about how great it is to be with someone who understands the pressure of the spot light and how happy they were.

Thats to bad.

I am surprised by this news. I saw them together this summer in Scotland and they could not have been happier. Both of them are great sports people and I hope that this is not a permanent situation.

I think the Norman has the focus to separate his person life from his life on the course and should be able to get through the President's Cup without too much distraction. That is if the press doesn't press him about it.

Somehow this just doesn't seem like a surprise, so I don't think it will be anything other than a bit of a tabloid distraction.

Evert has been down this path too many times before, and has always seemed a bit flighty and weird. I remember her with Jimmy Connors back in the day, and her other marriages were less than stellar.

As for Norman, while I always loved his "go for it" style and aggressiveness, he always seemed to be all for himself. Not totally a bad thing, but when he "fell" for Evert and had the whole "when your life is perfect" thing going on, which just seemed too much. Once again, too weird to even go into.

I stand by my prediction that the USA tromps the World by at least 4. 

i read that they were separating, not divorcing and that they were remaining friends.  if all that is true, i don't think norman will be distracted enough to make any difference.

I don't think it will any impact.  Something like this shouldn't affect captain decisions, but like Welch said, if he was playing, it may cause some trouble. 

I hadn't heard about this. I seem to remember  reading when Sergio and Norman's daughter broke up Sergio was a little distracted. Norman is more mature and this should not be a distraction, especially since he is not playing.

Norman's a big boy and should be able to handle the pressure. It may just be a simple easing of the ways for both of them. From what is being said, they were very happy with each other and understood the pressures of their backgrounds and future lives together. If it does  bother him I would think that someone would point out to him that he is not making the right decisions and that would be enough to set hiim straight.

I bet if it does bother him, it will not show on  or around the course. He is a true proffesional.

But after watching an interview the other day, he does need a haircut badly.  haha

I think he's trying to be professional about it and sometimes get saddened by how the media wants to always beat up an issue that shouldn't be brought out to the public...its actually pretty disturbing to me.

I wouldn't respond either, media can be annoying.  Sometimes their interviews even get on my nerves, they ask dumb questions.

This is probably not a new thing to their relationship and might have been going on a long time so it should not pose a distraction outside of the media hounding him...

If he was playing, they should be worried.  I don't think it will have any effect on him or his team as a captain.
