Wedges

56 and 60 degree wedges are my choice. I would also agree that unless you spend some serious practice time, that loft could do more harm than good.

absolutely nickpoz...a 64 in the hands of someone that doesnt' know how to use it could be a problem.  also taking a club out of your bag to put in a 64 would hurt the average golfer as the club they might take out will most likely be a club that would provide more use to the average player than a 64 wedge would.

Ive recently switched to the new vokeys and have picked up a graet amount of spin and have better distance control so give those a shot

  •

I play with 52,56,60 Vokey Spin milled.

I have a 54 and 58 spin mill also that I picked up in a tourney prize.

I would see no reason to use a 64 , just seems like a limited club . Better off to get an additional hybrid like was stated before.

i play with a 60 and regular sand wedge (56) but i am no pro. i can hit any shot with my 60 because it is very versitale. No pro should carry a 64 for the same reson i do not. plus these guys are way better than i am.

I would say a 64* would get the average golfer into more trouble than good during a round.  I would not use one and put another club in the bag that you could get more use out of.  Most Titleist Custom Fitting accounts should have Vokey demo wedges to give a try out to help you find the right combinations of lofts and bounces.  I myself have a 50*, 54*, and 58.*  I like the 58* around the greens and out of the bunkers and really feel much more comfortable hitting full shots with it than I ever did with my 60*

Had a little trouble getting used to the 60 at first and now am comfortable with it. As to the 64, That is out of the question for me. I have a tendency to agree with you and others that a 64 is just too difficult for the average golfer and I am one of those, but I did enjoy seeing what others felt about that particular loft.

I wouldn't say no pro should carry one for the same reason you don't.  Love to hear that argument with Phil, he was gaming one just last week.

I would say the amateur should not game one unless you are a skilled amateur and you are competing where you need this sort of loft.  It is not practical to use one just because you can, taking a club out would be more of an issue than addding a 64* wedge.

I carry 3 wedges, 48, 52 & 56. I tried the 60 for a short time, but just couldn't get the hang of it. As for a 64, I really see no use for an amateur, IMHO.

I like OUTIGER's thoughts on adding a hybrid or another club that will help the average golfer...

How many tour players - except Mickelson - actually use a 64...not many to my knowledge...it is a limited club for certain situations that the average golfer (myself included) don't have the ability to use.
