generally it's the lower ball flight from my driver through 5 wood, 7 wood is quite high.

3-5 irons stay low  and 6 on up i play high.

It is pretty hard to hit a seven wood low!  I have tried to bag a five wood in the past but continually pulled it out due to the higher ballooning ball flight.  It was no good in the wind.  I have recently added a Fli-Hi three iron to the bag and I am loving it.

I like the more piercing ball flight and have tailored my driver to fit that flight pattern.  When necessary however, I will make an adjustment to hit the high towering drive when trying to cut corners or carry certain hazards.

I hit the ball really high in the first place - I had played an 8.5 for years, but when I got my 909 went for the D3 with 9.5.  It was a good change.  For me it's more about the spin rate than the trajectory being so specific.  Into the wind, you just need to swing easier to keep the ball down a little, or I hit my 3-wood choked down to feel like I'm getting as much stiffness and possible in the shaft.  That helps keep the spin rate and then keep the ball down as well.

I guess I could say I play both. most of the time I play the high towering shot, but if I need to I can change it up and hit a lower trajectory peircing shot.

That is a good tip.  I never considered choking down to increase the stiffness of the shaft to keep the spin down.

Hmmm....  It seems that the majority of us have gone against the new conventional wisdom.  I am surprised to hear that most of us are partial to the lower ball flight.  This is very interesting. 

I have recently switched to a 8.5* driver head and I am loving it.  I was hitting some piercing bombs yesterday.  I tend to find more fairways when I am hitting the ball a little lower.  It is harder for me to clear some of the corners at my club, but I have learned to adjust my setup to gain more launch.

for me it usually depends on how im swinging and what the golf course calls for. My natural shot with the driver is a high shot but have worked on lowering my trajectory and now i can hit a pretty boring fade off the tee. I usually go to the 3 wood when i need to draw it or hit it low (stinger!) but on days where im feeling good ill rip the driver low which adds distance usually for me. Most often however ill stick to the fade.

I am just the opposite, if I need it high, I hit a fade but for my normal trajectory (low) I usually hit a draw or just straight depending on the hole.  I don't like to hit a high draw because it turns more into a hook for me and I lose a lot of distance when I hit the high draw opposed to my natural low draw.
