I have to agree with you TH, the buying public is segmented and of diverse tastes. The folks at Taylormade know this and simply decided to take a shot at the funny bones out there. And succeeded in bringing attention to their brand and, dare I say it, very good drivers and fairway metals.

Those adds are pretty stupidier. I thought the hats w/ the #17 were tacky, now this takes the cake.

They get Wacky#IER with every ad campaign. I saw a yellow #IER hat on ebay for $125 . it couldn' have been Tack#IER

Not that I wear TM hats, but one with 17 or # ier just seems sillyIER.

I agree with TH.  While FJ may have a "classIER" set of ads - TM is trying to draw a different crowd.  The more people into golf the better it is for the industry and us.

I say you never know what works until you try it.  In this case I think those ads do work.  We're still talking about them (now that I've added to this thread) and they still keep people talking about them everytime they come on.

long ago during a different time, george carlin did a routine called the seven words you could never say on television.  within the routine he also spoke of many two way words that if they were used in one context they were OK for TV and if they were used in certain other ways, they were "BAD WORDS".  one of those words was balls and in the context of the count on a batter it was ok to say that the batter had two balls and one strike on him.  perfectly ok!  but if the words balls was used in the context that would refer to the players testicles in any way, no no, you can't use it that way.  TM with their rocket'balls' was fine.  going to 'ballzier', stating that they now have the ***, cahones referring to the testies though has now crossed the line.

it may be cute and even effective advertising, but TM has taken a turn away from class toward the gutter.

if the ads bother you what do you think of the "leaderboard" listing on Golf.com and the -ier after the sponsored players.  that is to much.

I agree the ads don't make much sense but I am not the target audience they are appealing to anyways....that is why FJ ads are so logical and compelling to me as well as one (of many) reason I support the FJ brand.  Just my two cents...
