A few years back, I was playing at the Bill Hill Country Club and Lodge and met Arnie after the round. He was playing WAR with a bunch of guys. The men's locker room also has a small sitting area and he walked up to grab a drink and said hello. We chatted for a minute or two then went back to his card game. After we ate lunch, we decided to play again and sure enough who was on the practice tee, no other than Arnie, swinging away from his own private area that was roped off.
Off course we let him go ahead of us, not that we had any say in the matter. We stayed a good distance behind him and on the 17th hole, a par 3 he stayed behind and watched us hit and drove up with us and chatted some more.
I would have loved to play with him, such a legend and special gentleman to meet.
