glove pet peeve

glove pet peeve

I have one pet peeve that drives me nuts and I am wondering if it bugs anyone else. I cannot stand it when people dally with taking their glove off on the putting green. It is like the people in the supermarket that wait to take out their wallets ( oh gee I have to pay for something?) I think that we could cut down on the time of a round if people would either keep their gloves on or take it off as soon as your putter gets in your hand! Oh and don't get me started about the same silliness on the tee box! I can't tell you the amount of times I see someone put on their glove AFTER they tee up their ball.

Doesn't really bother me.  I don't have many pet peeves on the course unless you could not following the rules (especially altering your lies).

  •

Guess we know how to bother you if ever in a match play event....  LOL

Interesting pet peeve here. I'll put it this way.... If you are fast enough for that to happen then you should be allowed to pass through.

On the other hand, if you are just paying attention to the group ahead of you, and that is the thing they do that ticks you off, then that is a different matter. So long as the group in front is at pace of play with the group preceeding them, this isn't shouldn't be an issue.

My cue while I wait is to do all my pre-shot during this time so I'm focused on my play and not my group or the group in front or behind me. If "pace of play" is correct, then I want to worry about me and no one else.

I think that you miss understand me.. I am talking about the people that I am playing with not the group in front of me.. Usually the group in from of me gives me something to look at while waiting for my playing partners to stop playing with their gloves.

The supermarket one gets me also.  On the course - as long as pace of play is OK I'm fine.  I normally start looking at my line a putt as soon as I get to the green or even close to the green.

After I hit my shot towards the green I automatically take my golf off.  I chip alot without my golf too.  I usually put it on on my way towards the next tee.  I have not ran into people that dattle with there gloves yet but I can see it getting a my nerves as well.

Sounds to me like  you need to find someone else to play with. That is so mino ras to go unnoticed by many. You  might try taking a little more time with your pre-shot warmup and take walk around the green to get a better feel for your putt. This may help with your time management and help you to enjoy the game more. Did you ever think that maybe this is done intentionally to make you more nervous?? Don't let it get to you and you'll find that it may stop all by itself.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT.  IF THE PERSON YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS A FRIEND, OR PLAYS WITH YOU OFTEN, I WOULD SAY SOMETHING TO HER IN A KIND CASUAL MANNER.  IF IT IS SOMEONE YOU DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE AND IF YOU DON'T HOLD UP ANYBODY, I WOULD UNTIE AND RETIE MY SHOES AFTER TEEING MY BALL.  MAYBE THAT PERSON DOES IT TO GET UNDER YOUR CRAW?  ANYWAY,  IN THE GENERAL SECTION THERE IS A POST ASKING FOR PICE SO WE CAN SEE EACH OTHER.  IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE SOMETHING OTHER THAN YOUR SHOES.  PS, I PLAY MIZUNOS TOO.

the supermarket thing always cracks me up to.

but i don't always take my glove off when i'm putting but i try to. i need to air my glove out everynow and then from my round. but i have the common sense to put it on before its my time to hit on the next tee box.

Try playing a 5 1/2 hour round on your local public course. I have the time to remove my glove....and finish a Sudoku puzzle...while waiting to putt.

  •

I put without a glove to get a better feel. I take my glove off when I remove my putter from my bag and attach it to a piece of velcro on my bag. I put my glove back on when I replace my putter and walk to the next tee box. I'd rather spend time lining up my putt, then playing with my glove.

I try not to focus too much on the other players in my group, at least not their mannerisms and such. I think the removing of the glove can be accomplished while walking from the cart or approaching the green, that is if you hit it on. I haven't really experienced this being a problem in my 35 plus years of play but I'm sure it does occur and can be annoying.

    I never take mine off.

I do have to try it, because of the statement that it just feels better.  I have to try for myself.

Not something I have ever really noticed to be honest with you, seems like taking off/putting on the glove takes about 5 seconds so guess it is something I have not paid attention too.
