Base Layer Review

Base Layer Review

  •

Today I wore my FJ Base Layer, FJ long sleeve PrDry Mock, and FJ SofShell vest to play my round here in SW Michigan. Fall is in full swing and the tee time temps were at 58 degrees.

The Base Layer fits very comfortably; not tight or restrictive in any way. Body is generous and long so it won't pull out. The crew neck is not tight or "chokey" at all. Made the mock feel nice and toasty. Also, the sleeves are long enough to stay down to the wrists so literally no cool air hits you.

When combined with the ProDry MOck and the Sof Shell vest, I stayed nice and warm all day, especially my back. No drafts at all. Once the sun got warmer late in the round I just took off the vest and still stayed nice and comfortable.

Very high marks on the new Base Layer products and the way they integrate into the total layering system. Make sure to get yours today!

Great to hear the review. Sounds like you really  are comfortable in the new system.

We here in Iowa have experienced some pretty cold weather also. Went out yesterday and temps were in the very low 40s. Day before we went out and had to wait over an hour for frost to clear off greens. Ah, the pleasure of the notherly breezes. But not for long. Good Lord willing we leave for the warmer climes of south Texas again on Monday. Hate to leave all you northerners in the cold, but life just isn't always fair. Just kidding. Retirement is great I am enjoying it as much and as long as I can.

I was talking with the FJ rep at one of my favorite haunts and he told me the sizing is true on all, but the base layer may run slightly more trim than the 2 other layers. Like Randy, I wear mostly large so I can get by with that size on all layers. The extra length is quite an advantage as well so it actually stays tucked in.

Sounds like I will be placing an order real soon... UA Cold Gear might be demoted to when I run outside in the cold only.

Wore the "System" again yesterday, with the same results.... warm and comfy.

One additional point. Under my BaseLayer I also wear an UA sleeveless HeatGear compression t-shirt. In the need for "full disclosure," I use this as I have a quirky back and want it to stay completely warm and "snug," which is why this extra garment. I even wear this in the summer, regardless of temps so I'm sure everything stays secure....

This may be more ritual for me, but I feel better with than without!
