New Outerwear System

New Outerwear System

  •

Just got my new layer system outerwear today. Plan on wearing it this weekend in the cool/cold Northeast. I will post my impressions on Monday. I can say that the fit is great and the material feels very nice. Not the scuba suit that UA is.

  •

I truly look forward to the review.  Maybe some pics of the fit would be beneficial to me... since I can't find any of the outerwear in my area!

  •

Have yet to see anything in Ohio either...guess its not quite cold enough yet.

  •

I need to get my suit in a few weeks!

  •

Checked the local golf Galaxy today and could not find the new layered outerwear.  Maybe early October is just too early here in Texas.

  •

Will definitely be interested in your eval 19. A lot has been said about the comfort of the system and hearing from you would make all of us very appreciative.

Well first round with the new outerwear today. It was a bit cool (45-50) and the wind picked up to about 20 at the turn.

Started the day with the base layer under an FJ golf shirt. The base layer is so much better than the UA that I have. It conforms (even to my far less than trim self!) and is not overly tight the the UA. It was warm enough until the wind came up.

I added a mid layer 1/2 zip top at the turn. Very warm and comfortable. With the 4 way streatch in the fabric, it was not to tight and didn't hamper my swing at all.

I would say that a wind resistant pullover on top of the base layer would probably be very warm.

The sizing runs very true. I normally wear an XL in my golf shirts as I prefer an pretty loose fit. Both of my outerweat items wer a size Large. That would be my normal sweater or dress shirt size. In the FJ outerwear the fir was perfect!

If you need new cool weather gear this is definately the right stuff.

    Thanks 19th!

I have always wanted Footjoy to make a garment which would prove to be superior to the UA (which I think is basically the same stuff Jane Fonda wore back in the 70's). A non golf polo is normally a large for me so I will be buying 2 or 3 larges in the near future.

For those of you looking for the Layering System....

The Golf Galaxy in Grand Rapids Michigan had it in stock 2 weeks ago... the full assortment of Base Layer, 1/4 Zip pullover, SofShells, Mocks, and new Rain Gear. BTW, the new styles and color combinations for the SS Rain pullovers is very nice!

Check the on-line store as they may have stock of the items and you can but them that way, even if your stores are not stocked yet.

As 19 says, the sizes run true to the past FJ sizing. I'm wearing Large in the shirts, which now are longer in the body, and XL for the items with sleeves (monkey arms!). The SofShell vest in Large is snug as a bug...

OK folks.... TGW.com has the Base Layer in stock at $49.99. I just ordered a white and a black garment today after my last post.

As a current UA Cold Gear user, I will report fully on both when I test out the FJ product on arrival. Unlike Bholl, I have been happy with the snuggly tight fit of the UA gear, so I'll give a full disclosure soon!

    LOL Randy.

I ordered from TWG also but they had a 15% discount so they were down to $42,

If you still like the UA better I will buy you a pair of Jane Fonda circa 1970's leg warmers to go with them. Look out Richard Simmons!
