Softshell Vest

Softshell Vest

  •

This week I picked up a new FJ Softshell vest, model 32707 in Black. When I was in Miami last month at the FJ photo shoot the photographer, Jay Haines from Speargrass Studio had one on and told me it was his favorite FJ item. So I found one this week at a Golfsmith store during a trip to Chicago, and EUREKA... I got it on sale for $75. What a find!

I have been wearing it around and I can't tell you how comfortable it is. The fabric feels great and it really holds in body heat well. I can tell that the waterproof nature will work well in the rounds where it is just annoyingly misting, but not a full on rain. The cinch for the collar and the waist is really slick as well, so you can truly seal yourself in to stay dry.

I know beej wonthe jacket version of this earlier this year and loves his. I can tell you, if you are considering a purchase, this vest is a "must ave" addition to your wardrobe for spring and fall rounds. Especially for us guys that live where the conditions change a lot. And I bet we'll see them next week out at Pebble Beach!

    I also own one TH!

Its one of my favorite pieces! I have the navy one.

Sounds like a great find. I already had the jacket on my wish.  Spring in the midwest is ever-changing. Golfsmith is supposed to open a new store here this spring, this gives me another excuse to get in there.

Thanks for the info, Tar Heel. You're sort of the "go to" guy for new men's stuff around here!

Sounds like a great item, currently do not have a vest in the wardrobe so think this is one that will be added for sure. Is it a pull over or a full zip?

  •

I have a black one as well. It's the best vest that I own and am looking to add another one soon.

Shaun... it is a full front zip, which is what really makes it a key buy.

GC... I think Hokie is our fashion man, isn't he?

I wore mine a bunch this weekend, and it's really is warm for just tooling around.

I had wanted one for a long time and was finally going to get one from our shop.  Then I get an email from Titleist last month that are doing some with the Titleist logo embroidered on the left chest as a special offer for those on staff with Titleist.  I got it and I love it!  SUPER comfortable.

Here I was feeling all good about my righteous purchase and YOU had to throw it out there... You got a Softshell vest WITH a special Titleist logo on the front. Gosh dang it.... One upped again.

Man that's key for you, and a drag for me.

The vest is very comfy though...   ; )

I  bought the FJ Softshell Vest in May of  last year at my local club. It was by far my favorite jacket/vest for the cool weather. Unfortunately for me the zipper had failed on the vest in October (yes 5 months). I was crushed, as I can not find the vest at my local club or golf shop. I can attest to the water resistance of this item ( excellent for a fabric vest ), and the fit is great due to the 2 cinches that are hidden in the pockets and the neck. My local tailor said he needs a special tool to replace the zipper, so I guess I'm out of luck for the time being until I can either get it fixed or find a new one. Although I had this problem I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. I must have got the one flukey zipper they made.

I too got one with my Titleist Staff package this spring (along with a few new FJ/Titleist shirts!).

I don't use a vest, it doesn't really get that cold over here.
