Our friend 19Hole gave a great account of his visit to FJ recently, and provided responses to many of our questions, which included questions about the garment (performance wear) side of things.
I'm really curious about this, because I see so many brands that are leveraged across the entire spectrum of golf. Addidas just bought Ashworth so they could move from strictly performance apparel to some more classic country club (post round) apparel.
FJ has really focused on the outerwear segment, with windshirts, vests, pullovers, jackets, shortsleeve shirts, mocks, hats, mittens, umbrellas, gloves and shoes. Clearly it's a very diverse line-up, and offers us performance benefits. Fashion is an iffy proposition, which is why the shortsleeve mocks went away, but they are coming back in the market a bit (actually I prefer them, because they look so polished and are more comfortable). I have been using the Addidas ClimaCool trousers and shorts, and they really are so comfortable in all weather conditions. Matched with their trophy belts, they complete a look that is so great.
Hearing that FJ is slowly considering this market is a bit of a concern, because I would surely use their products over others because I prefer the FJ quality more. But in the absense of FJ, I have to go another direction, which isn't my choice. Just putting it out their again that there are some items I feel would allow FJ to slowly step into the market without going nuts and driving up costs.
