I recently purchased 3 pieces to start my layering system: 1) Base Layer; 2) Half Zipper Pullover; and 3) Short Sleeve Rain Shirt.  I used to wear a 42 Short sport coat but becasue I have putt on some weight and bulked up a little i upper body, I now wear 44 Short.  These days size is not standard from one brand to another like it used to be.  I wasn't able to try any of these on because our pro didn't have any in stock so we ordere XL in all pieces.  They seem to fit OK but the Pullover & Rain Shirt seem too long.  Does anyone have any opinion on how these should fit?

I would personally like the fit to be a bit long.  I  do not like to be restricted in my swing. If the fit is exactly at the wrist or shorter I would not wear it playing golf.

I wear a 46 size coat and normally an xl in everything except golf shirts and outerwear. i go with large and it seems to work. My only advice to you is if possible try them on. With practically everything made over seas sizes do not always run true.

    Driv4Sho...

Welcome to our site. Hope you stay and play! The length you refer to I assume is in the body of the garments, which really has no "option" as a long or short.

You mention you are a 42-44 size, which is my size as well, and I purchase XL in all my FJ outerwear. This helps me get teh proper size for sleeve length more than anything, because I am 6'3".

In the FJ shirts I wear a large, as the FJ body sizes are generous, so that would probably work for you as well.

    Good luck!

I've heard that the best way to go is to get a one size larger jacket than your regular clothing.

If I purchased one size larger I would be swimming in it.  I snagged a couple jackets and whatnot but I got them all in my usual size and thought they were very true to fit.

I find that the FootJoy outerwear runs very true to size. It seems like they build a little bit of extra room into the garments to allow for layering.

All the replies vary as I thought they would.  I need to get our pro to order more sizes so I can try them on.  I like the fit of the Base Layer in XL.  I have an Adidas "base layer" in large I bought a year ago and it's just way too tight.  I think the zippered pullover and rain vest need to be Large because of the sleeve and tail length.  They are too long in the XL.

Driv4sho - I think you are doing the right thing by getting some different sizes to try on.  Sizes and fit preferences vary across all the apparel companies.
