Greetings from 2011 SA Open Championship.

Our host this week is the Serengeti GC on the outskirts of Joburg, and approximately a 20 minute drive from O R Tambo airport

We had plenty of FJ players to see this week, to finalise their equipment needs for 2012. We were without the Titleist Support Vehicle which made things difficult, but we managed to find a nice spot in the South African sun.

FJ ambassador, James Kingston is a past winner of the event, and will be looking for a good showing again here this week. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, things aren't going James' way, and it looks like an MC for him.

It is really getting to crunch time now, as the season draws to a close. For most players in the field, this will be their last event of the season, and will be doing their best to avoid the dreaded Q-School in a few weeks’ time. FJ ambassadors, Seve Benson, Lloyd Saltman, Liam Bond, Phil Price, Rob Dinwiddie, and Soren Hansen all find themselves at the wrong end of the Race to Dubai, and will be hoping for extremely good finishes this week.

At the other end of the Race to Dubai, Q-School Graduate, George Coetzee is having a phenomenal season, and is looking forward to finishing the year in style. The further he can finish in the Race to Dubai and also the Sunshine Tour order of Merit, the more doors will open for him in 2012, including exemption into the Major's and WGC Championships.

Another player having a fantastic season, and hoping to gain his European Tour card for 2012, is South African FJ ambassador, Jbe Kruger. As always, Jbe was bouncing around the range during the practice days, after a Top 10 finish last week at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Jbe and George Coetzee were also on hand to meet and great a school party who came to visit the course on Wednesday lunch time. The kids loved the experience, and each walked away with a signed cap, and a huge smile on their face. All in a day’s work for a European Tour professional.

Tano Goya dropped by to place a shoe order for 2012. Tano is an avid FJ ICON wearer, and chose the following styles for the start of next season. 52262, 52248, 52184, 52192 & 5149. Tano will also be visiting the MyJoys website to get creative with some more funky styles.

FJ enjoyed yet another good showing in the equipment counts this week, with 72% of the field lacing up in the #1 Shoe in Golf and 50% opting for the grip performance of the #1 Glove in Golf.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that an FJ player is once again topping the leaderboard come Sunday evening. That’s everything for this week.

Look out for next week’s FJ Tour diary which will come from The Hong Kong Open.
