In this week's WGC Accenture Match Play, 64 of the world's best players competed at the rugged Dove Mountain Course in Marana, Arizona.  After four days of competition only four players remained.  All four players choose FJ shoes and gloves to help them compete week in and week out on the worldwide stage.

With the all FJ final four set, Hunter Mahan (FJ ICON and StaSof) took on Mark Wilson (FJ ICON and SciFlex) in the first match this Sunday.  Hunter Mahan, playing some tremendous golf, took down Wilson 2 & 1 to to be the first competitor in the Championship match.

Rory McIlroy (FJ SPORT and Pure Touch Limited) would take on Lee Westwood (FJ SPORT and Sciflex) in the other semifinal match.  Falling three down through the first four holes, McIlroy responded brilliantly winning four of the next five holes taking a one up lead into the back nine.  Rory did not look back, eventually defeating Westwood 3 & 1.

In the Championship match and potential Ryder Cup preview, the red hot Hunter Mahan; who led the field in birdies, took on the world number two golfer in Rory McIlroy. Both players showed nerves on the opening hole exchanging bogies.  On the next three holes both players went birdie, birdie, bogey to remain all square.

Mahan then beat McIlroy on the sixth, seventh, and eighth holes to open a three up lead.  He would add the tenth hole to go four up.  Fighting back, McIlroy won the eleventh with a chip in for eagle.  Keeping the pressure on Mahan, Rory birdied the fourteenth to further wear away the Mahan lead. It would not be enough, as the players would halve the next three holes to give Mahan a 2 & 1 victory over McIlroy.

Mahan, showing some humility, "I got hot there in the middle of the week and was able to ride it out," adding, "He’s (McIlroy) the best player in the world right now, I knew he’d made a charge, and he did.”

McIlroy also spoke highly of Mahan, " He was solid as ever. He’s a deserving champion.”

This is Hunter's second World Golf Championship win and the victory moves Hunter into the top ten on the official world golf rankings.

In the consolation match, Wilson defeated Westwood one up to finish third and fourth respectively for the Championship.

Lee Westwood cruised to a seven-shot victory on Sunday in the Thailand Golf Championship.  Westwood wearing FJ Sport and SciFlex set the pace early, opening the tournament with a 12 under par 60 on the Amata Springs course.  He then followed the stellar round with an impressive eight-under par 64 to open a 11 shot lead through two rounds of play.

"I've amazed myself really...It's been staggering, it all came together well. It's probably the best I've ever played." Westwood said of his blistering start to the tourney.

Despite his massive lead, Westwood felt the pressure of holding onto it, "I've never had an 11-shot lead before and it was difficult to come out and refocus and reset goals...it's yours to lose really with an 11-shot lead. There was pressure involved. Yesterday, I didn't know how to approach it or handle it."  Westwood handled the pressure just closing with a three under par 69 to win by seven shots.  The win moves Westwood to number two on the official world golf rankings.

Luke Donald (FJ ICON MyJoys) bested Lee Westwood (DryJoys Tour #53635 and SciFlex) in a playoff to capture the European Tour's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England.  The players faced brutal conditions all week and they both finished the tournament at 6 under, 278 total.  On the first playoff hole Donald safely pitched his 3rd shot onto the green within 6 feet, placing the pressure on Westwood to match him.  Westwood's approach would land on the green only to spin back into the water.  Donald would then hole his six footer for the victory.  The win moves Donald to number one on the Official World Golf Rankings, supplanting his fellow countryman Westwood.

Donald is embracing his new status stating, “It doesn't get much better. I'm not sure if there will ever be a case where Number One and Number Two in the world are playing off for the tournament, but also a chance for the Number One ranking in the world. A unique history I think has been made, and glad to be a part of it.”

Fresh off a decisive victory in Malaysia that claimed Westwood (DryJoys Tour #53635 and SciFlex) the number one spot in the World Golf Ranking, Lee claimed his second consecutive tournament with a win at the Ballantine's Championship. Wanting to validate his top position, Westwood came from behind to win in South Korea. Starting his final round three strokes back of the leaders, he shot a final round 5-under 67 to defeat his competitors by 1 stroke.  Westwood later stated, “It was very tough and to go around without making a bogey, five birdies and 13 pars was a special round of golf."
